    Hi guys

I just recently come back to EQ2 after many years away, a friend persuaded me to make an Illy as he said they are pretty desireable on our server in raids.

I dont mind admitting im a noob at all, i plan on learning the class as i level (Wont be powerlevelling, will be stopping for AA's)

Im guessing this is the AA Spec i should aim for if i want to do end game raiding, ive read this thread and its obvious to me the OP knows what hes talking about, so im more than happy to follow this spec advice.

Only question i have is, what should i spec into first as i level? Should i do the Illy AA lines first? or Enchanter Lines first?

Im not after a level by level AA spec or anything, just an idea which direction i should be headed to make my levelling more efficient.

    Thanks in advance all

i would say your going to regret leveling this toon, filling other desires over your own needs usually leaves you dissatisfied, easily burnt out, and quickly ready for a break. but if you must, then my recommendation who be perpetuality line, followed by volatile magic one, aka agility and then int lines, then move on to the illy/eof tree or tso one, its really personal preference after that. good luck.

Thanks for the tips... i had previously played a Troubador to 74 but im more happy in the role of a caster. Im fairly happy with the fact i will be making others look good rather than myself

well, right now, its mostly power regen and mash mash mash... buffs right now are made mostly moot due to gear, synergism and the 5 spell double attack aa for tc are still good. by the time you make 90, time warp will hopefully be fixed... hopefully... no promises, hard to say with how long it took the guardian.

There's making others look good actively, and then there's making others look good passively. One is fun, one is not. Sadly we are of the passively kind along with a bunch of abilities that do nothing on raids.

Tbh the class isn't as messed up as everyone makes it. Are there severe issues with illusionists and did they get the shaft this expansion? Yes. Are they EXTREMELY bad and hopelessly unbalanced compared to other classes? No.

The class isn't easy to make look good. If you want to play an illy you also apparently have to learn to whine more.

They're gonna come when you're not ready when you're not too well-prepared. They're gonna prey upon your weakness no man's soul is ever spared.

The only way to make an Illusionist look good or balanced right now is to play with retards who make you look good. I was out-dpsing the bards and healers in my guild when I left the game, but I know that I could out-dps my own Illusionist with my alt Fury, Inquisitor and Dirge with lesser gear on easily.

Is it extremely bad and hopelessly unbalanced compared to other classes? Yes.

In terms of net worth, they do much less than all the other utility classes (bards and coercers) in terms of both utility and dps which makes them pretty shit. Not to mention all the buffs that the 'pure dps' classes got given which step into utility territory.

Illusionists buffs are outdated and the class needs a dps boost to come up to par with their counterpart coercers. But currently, on average, excluding random buffs and other nonsense... Illusonists will parse above healers and bards, and below coercers, tank and dps classes.

Can we be outparsed by bards and more dps oriented healers? Absolutely. On average though, we are not. If that's the case, you're doing something very wrong.

what your basically arguing is a matter of opinion, aka how messed up the class will be before you deem it a broken class. Your words here alone state its a broken class. This is what people are coming to realize as raid leaders...

Illusionist has dps focused buffs for mages that though borderline weak, still is better than the coercer...

    vs.

Coercer who is bringing full group mana flows, higher dps, coercive shout, and i have the feeling im leaving something out at the moment but i apologize.

conclusion: Any with common sense and a little bit of logic would say only one thing, the class is broken due to severe lack of balance. It is not to say that the class is non existent, aka parsing zero, not buffing at all, etc etc etc. As for whining, no one was whining, we simply answered factually the handicap of the class in its current state to the person asking. So perhaps you are the type who would say an 8" penis was good, but meh, a 2" one aint bad either, i mean its still a penis, it still can do its basic duty and impregnate someone, you know, when she stops laughing that is, but before she gives you the look of utter dissatisfaction and disappointment.

In terms you can understand. It's an 8" penis compared to a 7.5" penis. And yes, you are whining. I'm sorry you couldn't play your illusionist well.

They're gonna come when you're not ready when you're not too well-prepared. They're gonna prey upon your weakness no man's soul is ever spared.
