When dealing with groups, I always start with an encounter mez and keep it active until there are only two mobs left.

It depends on the encounter, but yes, this is how I normally do it too. But like in the Nest with that second named that has all the adds, I just burn them down because they're all down arrows and die in 2-3 AE's.

depends how tough the group is i guess. with a few stun/daze proc items even 4 ^ mobs when linked burn down without any cause for concern.

but sure on the tougher linked mobs, ae mez to start... or if they are spread out, throw a single mez on the nearest then AE mez over it.

Do you guys use enhanced lockdown at all or is the m1 sufficient with subj gear sufficient for long term root?

Subjugation gear? Enhance: Lockdown? Both are completely useless for a long duration root as long as you aren't hitting the mob. But if that's the case, why not mez instead?

I don't do either, as i barely use the root. One case where i do though (though i havent done this in forever) is with that named rock golem on shatered weir that you spawn using the crystals.

He is immune only to stuns - roots mezzes and stifles all work on him. So i use lockdown and the pet to hold him rooted, while keeping spellshield up on myself. When spellshield goes down, i use stifles to keep him from casting unti i can recast the shield. And thats the cycle.

So yeah, a mob has to be immune to mezz, stun, AND root for it not to be soloable. Anything else is soloable by an illusionist, even while naked.
