Default question regarding illusionists

Hi now i know i have read several spots about where illusionists are excellent soloists and can kill many named mobs by themselves however i am curious as to the extent of the true accuracy is and whether or not a illusionist can clear say Nest or the like. I am asking as i have been considering rolling an illusionist and making him strictly a solo machine and wanna know what my limits are at both ends of the spectrum if anyone has some input on this it would be so very appreciated.

We are excellent soloists - clearing Nest, for example, is cake (personally I tend to pick up a death from stupidity during the run). Basically, if it can be stunned/stifled/rooted and won't kill you in two shots, its soloable. In some cases (like Cazel's Mesa) even if it can kill you in two shots its still soloable.

The only limits you have is if mobs have immunity to control effects. If not, you can solo it. You can solo most instances and most questlines, if that's what you're really asking.

In some cases, even immune mobs can still be done, provided they are not immune to all effects. For example, I can still solo the first mob in Acadechism even though he's immune to stun, but idealy you want to stay away from mobs like that. He's a special case since he's right at the start of the instance and drops a master, so it's worth it.

Can someone give an outline for Illu soloing? I've just returned to mine after a long-term hiatus in WoW and am wondering how to level.

He's 22 in Antonica atm.

I'm wondering about cast order, what quests to do, and what AA to invest in once I get the xpacs.

Actually I only root the hard-hitting mobs, most of the time I can tank even heroics. Tho with heroic's i start with root and send my pet, so she can take half the hits before the mob turns to me hehe.

When I was messing around soloing (and sure it's an alt and not 70...lol) it was against yellow heroics / white named , so I was keeping a distance.

Then if the root broke (and the pet didn't have the mob rooted) I would hit a stun, back off and rinse / repeat.

Of course there are probably better ways' to do it, but this is how I was doing it without any issues (once in a while things don't work out the way you want of course)...

Yeah, against yellow/white heroic/nameds, I would root. But for grinding, its much more efficient to do blue heroics a level or two lower than you. You can kill them amazingly fast since you don't have to mess with the whole root/back away crap.

So do you mez the extra mobs in the encounter? Or just burn them down so quickly it doesn't even matter?
