Procs and DPS Math

Someone made the comment on my server that 1% crit is about a 0.6% dps improvement.

I parse around 1.5k to 2.3k depending on zone, dispatches, etc most time and I still have a few pieces of mastercrafted. At the advice of a rather nice illu on my server, I have started gathering proc items (much to by distaste of Sony's shafting of me on the orb in FC .. 9x and no orb). My question is: "Is there a base formula on how much a damage proc item gives you to your overall DPS in normal conditions? Vine-wrapped boots (some people on my server say these boots are crap... don't understand why)? Int pre-cap? Bolt Energy increases?"

I noticed that about 40-50 INT increases beam by 5 damage, wow! /end sarcasm.

I am trying to setup my char up optimally and have read the gear choices and maximizing DPS threads but wondered how much all of these things impact each other so that I can make better choices.

As an Illusionist, Vine-Wrapped Boots are horrible, but unless you have Avatar boots or Matron boots, they are the best you can get.

As for average proc damage, take what it says, add 30%(VM), then add 50%(debuffs) from that new value, and you'll get what it hits for, add about 50-75% proc(AGI Line) chance, and you'll get how much it'll do for DPS.
