Bounty of the Virtuous
Hi there folks. I have a question about a couple of Inquisitor spells I'v been unable to find a satisfactory answer for, wondering if you could help me out?
I'm wondering about the comparison between the Splitpaw spell, Bounty of the Virtuous, and the equivalent standard heal spell.
At my current level (36 heh) the basic spell at only Apprentice 4 is more efficient in terms of power (more HP healed per point of power) and also has a higher heal throughput due to the faster cooldown.
I understand the Splitpaw version returns power back to the caster 10% of the time. the math I was using was:
-assuming 1 in 10 spells returns power on average
-subtracting 10% of the power cost from the total cost to reflect how much power each cast takes on average
then working out the same two numbers for the Splitpaw spell to get the efficiency (HP healed per 'new' power cost) and throughput (HP healed per cycle*)
With the power returned actually being less than the power cost of the spell at my level, this calculation is actually boosting how good the Splitpaw spell appears to be, even though it is still worse than my basic heal in all aspects.
The questions I had were:
- does this spell's power-return ratio improve?
I understand the spell scales with level, but it will be equally as useless at level 70 if the power returned does not increase to be higher than the cost of the spell
-does anyone actually use this spell?
-are there any situations in which this spell can be used over the basic heal?
The only time I could think of would be when you only have enough power to cast a single heal, and you then might as well cast this one in the hopes that it procs.

*I'm not sure if this was clear. I mean like, if you cast a spell that heals 10HP, costs 1sec to cast and a cooldown of 1sec, you'd be healing 5HP/second by this metric
Apologies for such a rambling post about some crappy level 20 blah whatever spell. The eq2 forums are full of bollocks and you folks seemed pretty knowledgable. There doesn't seem to be many places that discuss stuff like this for eq2 heh.
