<shrug> I seem to do fine. If the tank knows what they're doing, they'll get up enough aggro pretty much immediately after he pulls, and then you're safe to throw up reactives. And then...you stack reactives. And tada! Tank is back to full in a jiffy.

If the tank knows what they are doing your pre reactives will never pull agro in the first place.
Pre reactives also allow you to do other stuff ...example.
single/grp reactive before pull
condemmed on inc, fanat and dps till the mob dies which if your grp is worth a shit will be long before your reactives expire or trigger out.

Re: Tips on playing the healer role in single groups?
If a tank struggles to hold agro against a clerics pre-cast reactives, they suck. No nice way to put it. Reactives are not huge hate generating juggernauts. Far from it.
Sure, every now and then a taunt may be resisted on the pull. This may result in a mob or two going after the cleric. But the mob(s) in mention should only be on the cleric for mere moments before a half competent tank can gain the agro.
Yes, body pulls make the cleric being hit once or twice, more likely. Once again, just deal with it. A tank of average skill should have no problem with getting quick agro on the mobs, well before a cleric risks dying. Otherwise, the person playing the tank needs to spend more time levelling/learning/playing, and less time ebaying.
With how hard the ^^^ mobs in RoK can hit, single target reactives do not cut it on their own. Standing around with your thumb up your ass for 4.5 seconds while casting a group reactive once the fight has started, is painful, and can be dangerous if the tank is not at full health. Pre-cast reactives are the way to go. Keeping a tank in the green the whole fight is MUCH easier than trying to play catchup because you're too scared of taking one, or maybe two, hits on a pull.

Back to full when you stack reactives? your not 70+ yet are you? Because my reactives crit for up to 850ish but max heal would be 1.7k. mobs hit for like 3k now. That or you have one sick tank...
One question for you though, what happens if your tank pulls 3 encounters at once? wouldnt he drop before you got your second heal off without prereacts?

Re: Tips on playing the healer role in single groups?
depend a lot of your tank, and your shield. he must have big mitig, sure, but also a good avoidance. And with shield ally you'll help him a lot , and your job also.
On hard pulls, i have already group reactive+single one, and i pre-cast the direc big heal on him also to fill the initial dmg pike. Then, i send the group insta heal , and recast group one. Annndd if that's hot , i cast the emergency group heal. All that heal for a fair amount. Ofc , if your tank is paper one, that wont be enough

Re: Tips on playing the healer role in single groups?
Your forgetting body pulls. To avoid social agro a tank will pull by just getting within agro range. He cannot throw taunt till the mob is far enough away from other mobs or he pulls social agro. In these cases a healers reactive will get u slapped. I havent really had to much issue with this considering most tanks get it right back and we do wear plate. Just wanted to put in that the tank will not always have agro on the pull depending on the type of pull he has to do.
