lol some servers are very strange with the drop rate then. -in my alliance on runnyeye, all plate priests have theirs (like 5 mains since soh went live) and i believe 2 or 3 sets have been handed down to alts.

now that GD hat on the other hand...

I'm pretty sure SOE secretly put an algorithm in there that lowers the drop rate based on the progress you have made in a given expansion. After 80+ runs in SOH we've seen zero EMG's, while people in scrub guilds running around the world all have them :P This doesn't seem to be unique to Nektulos either :P

It is simply the result of a low percentage chance to drop. Some guilds can keep getting lucky, while other guilds can luck out for entire expansions.

It is an element of the game I do not like, where game changing loot comes from mobs that are stupidly easy to kill, but have rare loot. The loot tables of mobs should always match the difficulty of the mob. Weighted loot tables being used as validation to put overpowered loot on pushover mobs is f'ing weak.

I definitely agree.
Never got those gauntlets in way more than 50 runs. I hate it when too much luck is involved.

Yes. Weighted loot tables just plainly suck! Esp with the piece of code SOE calls a random generator. I hate it that some twinks already have 4 TSO set pieces while I'm still waiting for my second piece to drop. :-/

lack of smart loot on pattern drops is beyond completely lazy on their behalf.. code has been in place on that kind of thing for years. No clue wtf they were thinking with that.

The non-smartloot implementation is purely to slow down progression. Otherwise, we'd have everything we want by now, right?

SOE has established a pattern of this. You'll probably see it 6 months before the next expansion.

I see the thought process on this. It keeps the weekenders from getting solid gear in a fraction of the time it takes the serious players to acquire.

It's needed but frustrating.

Meh.. my $0.02.

On the flip side... i still can't get REH to drop for me. (sigh)
