weapon selection
ITT: weapons (haha guess what)
we aint talking about healing in this thread either because wearing the mythical for heal-heavy situations is kind of a nobrainer. diff 1-3 TSO instances can mostly be done wearing the dogwood staff (specced for OT-grp, so having max shield ally) to cover both avoidance for the tank and personal dps....... BUT, what do you use in terms of pure dps?
like... random non-tank group in a raid... say while youre killing palace-trash.
ive got 3 alternative weapons which might come in handy here, but which's best?
1) dogwood staff - 4sec delay - since flurry is straight-% based, this one would trigger the most flurries.
2) thex HQ hammer - 5sec delay - combined with his proc this hammer does about the same dps as the staff, but will likely to trigger less flurries and fanatical devotions as well ofc. this one sounds kind of like the middle way between 1 and 3, which is:
3) lavaforged greathammer (the one from deep forge) - 8sec delay - the delay alone has 2 disadvantages: firstly it triggers less flurries, which is bad as is and secondly, when you get a flurry, possibly even a double-flurry... its likely to be 40-50k damage at once... which is really aweful in terms of peeling aggro.
BUT the good thing about this one is: with its high delay you can easily place a groupheal in between the swings and not loose ANY autoattacks to it... which is pretty amazing in terms of choker healing and stuff
so... i think the hard part is to find the balance between a low delay to have as many flurries as possible and a high delay to be able to place stuff in between autoattacks without loosing anything dps-wise (please mind: not saying i wouldnt grpheal with a low-delay weapon... healing>dps)
so yea... whats the point of this thread? im not sure whether this works math-wise, but it just occured to me, that in case you have a higher delay weapons you get fewer flurries, but IF you get one, its going to be way more damage in 1 flurry than with a faster weapon. BUT because the RNG is a bitch this probably needs lots of parsing and testing wether the bigger flurries with slower weapons match the dps of having more flurries with a faster weapon
so... please do some testing, parsing... need lots of input.
one thing i already tested is the fact, whether flurry is indeed percentage based (because, as shitty as it is - tandem IS normalized although the spell doesnt say so in its description). it IS indeed percentage based - you get more flurries during the same time period with a faster weapon (tested with some t6 handcrafted weps)
tl/dr: need weapon comparison parsings

Re: weapon selection
I'll do some testing to see how effective these weapons are. I just got the hammer from DF last night, so I will look into it.
I still don't have a Bonecrusher ! (grrrr).
I'm not a ACT geek, but will be looking into how much each can produce damage wise.
what adornments are you peeps using for your 2h ?
It will also be nice to have a new thread of DPS gear. I'm interested to see what peeps are using/wearing to maximize their DPS
cheers - Happy New Year !

Re: weapon selection
Minimum delay on Dogwood is 2s. With typical raid casting haste, you're only going to delay autoattack swing by .1-.2 seconds when casting a group heal (and if you have more than typical, not at all).
Vraksakin was 4.0 also, never had a problem timing it with heals.
With flurry, devotion, Chimes, and PoM, I don't understand why people use the hammer.

Not sure how or why PoM would influence weapon selection choices?

Re: weapon selection
yea well anyways... i wouldnt base my weapon selection on POM because you know... its way inferior to potm/cob because of its short duration and with bards also adding increased proc chance while potm/cob is running. pom IS highly overrated, its just a damage-increaser like many other classes get in some way.
on topic: todays running of instances made me lean towards the faster delay weapons because i seemed to end up higher dps-wise.
on that note...

thats wrong. the haste cap is at 125%, so the min delay is something just below 2sec (i kinda forgot the exact formula so i cant supply details :/)

Re: weapon selection
nothing in the world would convince me to drop the lava forged deepforge hammer thing.
that weapon is awsome, and in tests out did every other for me, and i have bonecrusher, the thex hq one and a bucnh of others.
its simply awsome, yes it may proc flurry less but when it does, happy times

Re: weapon selection
I have tried the DF hammer, Thex hammer and the Dogwood. My dps is best with the Dogwood with my current gear and the random raid setups i get.
