Re: Clueless on how to play and inquis..
1. Depends on what you're fighting. (also note: Steadfast is invaluable when soloing)
- Anything with no ^'s, or very green, don't bother debuffing or casting the damage reactives - maybe put up a reactive heal every few mobs to top off your health.
- If it has 1 ^, maybe put up the reactive heal and Condemned before engaging.
- For blue or better with 2 or more ^'s, I usually root, put up the single and group reactive heals, debuff, and then engage. When debuffs fall, re-root, rinse, repeat.
2. It depends on what else is in the group with you, or what group you're in on the raid.
- For grouping, if there's another healer, you can get away with wearing DPS gear and probably only do any real healing on names, if you are actually doing some DPS (run a parser to provide evidence). If you're solo healing, your job is to heal, maybe while auto-attacking. In either case, you should put up Condemned on heroics that are high blue or better, and a full debuff on difficult named mobs.
- On raids, it's pretty much the same, unless you're in the MT group by some weird circumstance. In that case, you're full-on healing, and putting up debuffs when you're sure you can get them off without the MT dying. The mobs in DT were probably dying so quickly because you probably had a bunch of level 80's in the raid mowing them down.
3. For the most part, except when soloing difficult 3^'s, don't debuff so much, and forget about the damage reactives. Make sure to run a parser so that you can see how your efforts at DPS'ing are really turning out. Look through the threads here and make sure your AA's are set up properly.
4. Bottom line, don't be afraid to adapt. If mobs are dying before you get them debuffed, stop debuffing.
