Default Shield Ally Questions

So right now I'm spec'ed for Divine Recovery, which as of late I’ve noticed diminishing return on. Since my guild has been getting geared out in T3-T4 shard armor I've seen less of a benefit from DR. I've polled a couple people i regularly raid/group with and they don't see that much benefit from it any more. So I was thinking of dropping it for Shield Ally since normally I’m in the MT grp with my guild raids. Just a couple of questions if anyone happens to know them though.

1) My avoidance isn't that great... Is it still worth it?

2) I regularly raid with both a monk and Pally and one of them usually gives their avoidance to the MT, does Shield Ally stack with this? Or does it work along the lines of I give the MT Shield Ally and the Monk gives me his avoidance.

Thanks in advance.

Here is an informative thread on Shield Ally. Hope it helps you.

That thread is .. well... advanced? Maybe too advanced for Carden's rather (sorry) newbish questions. I can tell you've never tried Shield Ally or looked at ACT, so I guess your guild is pretty casual. One piece of advise: if you can use a templar in MT group instead, do that.

Otherwise, yes, Shield Ally is worth it. Especially if you go STA 4488 instead of only 4448. Put a +block% adorn on your shield (and equip a shield if you havent) and put +%parry adorns on your wrists for maximum effect. Use a shield with the highest protection you can find.

And yes, fighter avoidance and shield ally do stack.

One of the main things you'll get from digging through that thread above is what things you can (and can't) do to improve shield ally.

Don't look at your overall avoidance. Shield ally doesn't use your base avoidance. It does use your block%, and (from the thread above) things with +parry% and +dodge% (and +extra whatever%, like the Nexona staff). Raising your agility doesn't affect shield ally. +parry%/dodge% food and drink work with shield ally. Things with +parry skill don't affect it, because Inquisitors don't get that skill (0 + 5 = 0).

You have to be facing the mob and in range (whatever the range is to cast it) of the tank. You don't have to be facing the tank.

There are probably some other details in the thread above.

Shield ally is definately worth it if you use it right. Get all the stuff that people said, wrist adorns, shield adorn, and the %parry/dodge food/water. I also have holy shield, and its really nice to toss on the scout in my grp so they don't have to joust as much.

Lets talk Shield Ally some more.

It is my understanding that Shield effectivness II and III stack but two items with shield effectiveness 3 do not stack, such as varsoon shoulders with low form guardian bracer from oob. Is this correct?

Furthermore the shard accessory set Rightous Rage (earring, wrist, cloak)

the earring has SE II on it and if you have all 3 it adds +10 to your shield's mitigation?
