I was just curious if there was a reason for a inquisitor to want to have this item over say a shield or a 2hander. It is a symbol that goes in the secondary slot and drops off sisters in soh. Any opinions on this?

It has a nice heal crit on it (better than a lot of shields) and a pretty good healing proc.
Plus, if you're not getting hit, there is no reason you should need the mitigation of a shield. Though this would disable your shield based attacks...depends on the situation tho

In healing mode there are two items to choose from:
- brace or star out of SOH

Can you still melee most of the time:
- star

Do you need to keep distance all the time:
- brace

Also: If I have a necro in my group I often keep my mythical equipped, as it helps a lot to heal though a LB.

Star of Malice is the top-rated shield slot item in our very nice loot thread. The thread is slightly outdated, but the item is still very useful for many occasions.

that is why i didnt find it in the loot thread. It is listed under shields and not symbols. I was looking through symbols as it is a symbol.

I use the star a lot on my mystic, but i'm not sure i would on my inqui- simply due to not being able to give shield ally to the tank.

It comes down to healing angel proc vs shield ally. Without the angel proc, the star wouldnt actually be that great while there are a lot of great shields, such as the buckle of corporeal darklight from the same zone. So it comes down to angel proc+meager base item against shield ally+possible great shield with possible great procs.

For soloing though, I would probably use the star.

As an inq, there are few times when I bother to switch into my spec with shield ally (MT healing in WoE is about it).

For healing instances or dps groups, the star is awesome.

For soloing, get a good (fabled) 2hr. The myth just doesn't cut it.

Unless you have a tank in your grp, shield ally is not going to be used, so there's no reason to wear a shield, so you might as well pop on your Star and get some useful effect out of the slot =p

I havent had shield ally in forever, no need when your groups all scouta and mages, no need for the agi tree really at all for me-
Im good on da and ae avoid is meh. now i do have it in my mirror in my home in case we have a missing templar but that hasnt been an issue in ages.
if you are an ot healer sure it works but blea thats no fun!
