Default Re: RoK, Procs, Set Bonuses, Itemization and You

necromancer set bonus:

(3):Focus Awaken Grave: Increases durration of Awaken grave by 15 seconds. (now the same durration as horde).
(5):+10 Disruption, 5% spell crits.
(7):Focus Archlich: Increases damage and heal ammount of archlich by 15%

BP: Focus Infernal Cloud: Decreases Reuse by 10 Seconds.
Legs: Focus Consumption: Increase damage and heal ammount by 20%.

these seem alot more useful than what we have now

go look at the conjuror stuff, absolutely nothing on it helps our dps besides the breastplate which is a minuscule bonus (+40 to a 5 tick dot). 3 set kills your pet and distrubes health and power to group ( never used on raids ) and a weapon proc buff trigger incease. All im saying is half the shit for some classes like dirges, templars, guardians, shadowknights go look at there fucking 3 set bonus REALLY useful while other classes have nothing worthwhile in terms of raiding.

As it stands, there’s a 25 second reduction in its reuse timer if you have three pieces of the dirge Requiem set on. Would you ask your dirges, or if you are one, to keep three of the old set pieces on just to keep the bonus, even at level 80? Of course, this is provided that CoB is not upgraded. I don’t’ know if it will, or will not, but at Fanfaire, it was mentioned some Ancient Teachings would, and others would stay the same. There might be other set bonuses as well, or even focus abilities on certain items (Ice Nova Re-cast on Wiz Leggings) that might collide with what the devs have in mind for RoK. I could go on, but I imagine everyone understands the potential problems that could come up by now, so share your thoughts.
All of this goes away once you develop a creative neuron in your brain and stop requiring people to discard their earnings to proceed in the game.

i think all mages overall just wished they would get the +8% crit on 5 the set like wizards tbh... i could bear with wearing 5 pieces of my eof set for that then use power proc pants and cowl of the crypt or something heh

To be honest, it'd be nice to see set bonuses designed by people who actually understand the class that's going to wear the set. Furies, for example, got royally dicked on their class gear. The three-piece bonus increases damage on Call of Storms, one of our most worthless and situational spells, and probably the least used next to Urchin. The five-piece bonus reduces the casting time on our group nox/ele cure, which is okay but not especially useful, since in situations where you have to cure that fast everyone should be using cure pots anyway. You have to get all seven pieces to get something that even approaches being appropriate for the fury's role, a 50-point symmetry.

(Yes, I realize some other classes got set gear that sucks even more. Consider your suffering noted.)

As to the larger question from the OP, I'm actually very happy with the direction item effects took in EoF. KoS was horrible for this--almost every other item had FT, and while I'm not going to complain about power regen, it seems like the people in charge of itemization had a failure of imagination in that expansion. I like having strategic options, ways to customize my character for different situations.

In my opinion the best option would not necessarily be to put more and varied effects on a lot of items item, but to expand the variety of effects that you can add with adornments. Right now adornments are... well, there's a few of them that are nice, but for the most part there's an inexplicable lack of variety for what you can put in each slot. The list of recipes available for each slot and tier looks suspiciously like someone started to write up a list of adornments, and left the job half-done. For some slots, like Waist, there's almost nothing of real worth for most characters, and certainly nothing of worth at the treasured level. This needs to change.
