Default Imbuing

So from what I have read, a secondary tradeskill profession will allow the player to imbue items with extra abilities, IE a fire damage proc or something similar.

Apparently this process will not require any ultra rare loot, but will be done through normal tradeskill means. Also it has been said that you will be able to imbue ALL items, including attuned items. I wonder how you are going to be able to do this work for other players then... or if you can only imbue your OWN attuned items. If so that woudl suck, because everyone would have to end up choosing that particular tradeskill profession in order to give their gear procs.

Can anyone shed some more light on this process? Like a clarification based on what Devs have stated?

The one you're thinking of is called transmutation. Its alot like the enchant system in WoW, where as items will have a slot for the transmutation to be afixed to. This will then give the item a proc based off of whatever the transmutation is.

I haven't read as to what kinds of transmutations they will have yet...but its probably safe to assume they're will be stuff like hostile spell procs, deaggros, power procs...and stuff already on items in game.

At first I read in the tradeskill forums that all items will be able to be transmutated; but then later I read in EoF preview somewhere (don't remember if it was eq2players or not) that only EoF items will be able to be transmutated, so not quite sure on that front.

From what I understand the transmutation process will produce some sort of item, perhaps a gem or and essence of some sort? That item is them combined with the piece of gear you wish to give the proc to.

The way the devs have stated it will work is that transmutation will be a skill, not a profession. How they plan in implementing it I have no idea, but I'm assuming that since its a skill they'll add transmutation recipes to all the TS professions to provide the means to get the transmutated items.

The thread on it at eq2players is a complete fucking mess with a ton of confusing red name posts. So if any of this is mis-information please correct me.

I'm not even going to pretend like this system isn't going to be completely fucked up.

Well I heard that this system will be backwards compatible with older gear as well. If thats true it's going to OWN hardcore. Imagine for a melee DPS class to put an offensive proc on every single piece of gear they have?!

Now I KNOW that this is gonna throw DPS classes WAY out of balance.... but it will be fun for awhile at least!

dont know anything about it, but hell I hope they are class specific so only weaponsmiths can imbue peoples weapons.

Sick of worthless tradeskill classes. maybe it will be like EQ1 augments? i make the item for a sword and then the customer attunes it to there sword? that would be hot imo

i dont think there would be that huge of a balance issue, just maybe scouts v mages, but considering the proc gear they get and we dont....

besides, it's sony we all know the proc will be:
50-60 elemental/noxious/arcane damage every 5s for a duration of TEN!

yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa......
