Can we ever hope for generalized +melee or +ranged damage and not just +ca damage? There are lots of classes (swashes, rangers, etc) that don't get near the benefit of +ca damage that others do, whereas any mage - any damage spell they cast gets the advantage of +spell (unless it is a particular damage type that they do not have, but those are rarer).

dont quite know how a swash doesnt take full benefit from +CA damage, or rangers, its not based on anything except CAs you cast. Are you trying to say triple volley, rain of arrows, whirl of blades, or uncanny response count as spells?:/

Re: What is missing from RoK itemization?
with rangers dps being mostly auto attack, +CA dmg may seem like it will be minimal overall, but I'll welcome anything since my CA's are weak in general.
I'm more worried about how little the bonus will be if its normalized the same as +spell dmg since our cast times are so low.

Spell damage is no longer normalized.

It's not that it won't help, it just seems a bit unfair that for a caster, they gain the benefit for every single thing that they do to deal damage. For rangers and swashes (and others that do large amounts of direct weapon damage), we don't get near that same benefit. To be sure, I'll like having the +ca damage, but I'd also like some +melee or +ranged general abilities.

Average zw's in zones like MMIS, I typically do around 51-55% direct weapon damage, 28-30%ish CA's, with the rest consisting of procs of all sorts including poisons, etc. So having something that accounts for more than just CA's but is still related to melee or ranged damage... would be nice?

Re: What is missing from RoK itemization?
I thought that's what haste and +DPS did, effect straight melee dmg without effecting CA's. . . Though I tend to avoid playing melee classes. Too much moving around.

Re: What is missing from RoK itemization?
Haste and +dps have equivalents in both spell casting time and +base damage in things like plasma wand, dark orb, etc (though granted, not as prevalent as haste or dps).
Reuse time is relatively evenly split across melee and casters for usability, though there is more caster gear with reuse time reduction than melee gear.

Re: What is missing from RoK itemization?
Agree with mendan. +CA damage isnt gonna be top of my list come adornment day, since +50% of my zw is from auto attack.
Relating to the proc issue mentioned alrdy, making them work on ranged is going out on a limb.
