The point isn't that the item is over balanced, the point is that if a mob hits the tank for 6-8k he's hitting you for a hell of alot more, my illu would get one shotted. This is one of the few ways there is to mitigate that atleast a little. Not my fault the mobs are crazy DPS buffed.

Jewelry should not be restricted to specific classes. The problem is that this item is obviously overpowered for tanks considering the effort involved in getting it, which means it is overpowered all around. Instead of giving mages ridiculous amounts of stoneskin to help them survive if they get hit, maybe more items should have hate reducers (group/raid) or spell resistability decreasers (make sure root lands) so that when soloing, grouping or raiding, mages have an easier time keeping mobs off of themselves.

every time you take damage it does a proc check for each item you have

Thats exactly the point. Most of us dont know if items are overpowered yet. For most havent even done a raid instance yet.
Dont get to far ahead now!

so if its not unbalanced then why should it matter if tanks can use it? thats a double standard, and for people calling for a nerf how can you say its over pwoered until ppl start raiding and "sploiting" said items, personally I don't give a fuck what they do to that item but you few ppl just look like tools calling for some nerf so you can say oh that was me that got that nerfed...maybe you get off on stuff like that...but idk whatever I'm going back to my hole.

The math is a little more complex than that, but yes, having multiple items procing the same effect like that increases your chances for a proc each round.

Without getting too into the math (and this is not some special game mechanic, this is purely calculating the statistics), 10 items with a 10% proc rate each would have the following chance of procing each round:
10% chance to proc from 1st item
9% from 2nd (19% total)
8.1% from 3rd (27.1% total)
7.3% from 4th (34.4% total)
6.6% from 5th (41.0% total)
5.9% from 6th (46.9% total)
5.3% from 7th (52.2% total)
4.8% from 8th (57.0% total)
4.3% from 9th (61.3% total)
3.9% from 10th (65.2% total)

Note that the total I'm showing is the chance of at least one of the procs going off. So even at 10 items with 10%, you have only a little over 65% chance of one or more going off. While that doesn't even make sense logically in my head, that's how it works out. You can run a quick computer simulation and get the same results =) (My math might be slightly off somewhere cause I just ran a million iterations and got 61.4%... or maybe the base random generator for windows sucks ;))

Most definitely. Having a "double standard" implies that the two things being compared are not equal. That is almost always the case when comparing a particular ability between two classes. In this case, we're comparing tanking ability. I don't think a person here would say that tanking ability is equal between cloth classes and warriors. Therefore I cannot give the same bonuses to each and expect them to be balanced.

This item is overpowered. I just tanked Unrest with it at level 80 with otherwise treasured gear. Think of it as 8-16% block chance, depending upon your proc increasers.

It is by far the best tanking earring in the game, its obtained from a 5 minute soloable quest, and its mage usable. This has got to be nerfed soon.
