If you wanted something to mean it's really an accomplishment, why not put a no-rez tag on the raid instance, and give it a 20 hour lockout? Then to really prove your uberness you'd have to beat the raid the first time, basically with nobody dying or be good enough to do it with less than 24 people. I'd be pretty impressed with that in all honesty.
But raiding is just a larger version of grouping, and it takes more money to repair and more time to complete, but is it really any "harder" than a similar dungeon tailored for 6 people instead of 24? It could be ... and then again it could be less hard as well. So, why do some posters think that having more people required should equal fabled?

Lol
I'm not sure if i should post anything here cuz it will derail this thread into a casual vs. raider argument =/. I'll just say that there's a HUGE difference between coordinating 24 people to do the right thing and not fuck each other over by getting ae'd or doing virtually 1 of the hundreds of things that they can do to wipe the raid, and getting six people together to go kill stuff with .001% of the hp and dmg output. Raiding takes more time and coordination, and is harder, it deserves better loot, period. I'm not saying here that only fabled should be in raids, just the heroic stuff should never be as good as the raid items.
Edit: This is coming from an ex-fulltime raider. I'm a casual player right now and it is way more relaxing than having to raid every day, though I do miss the rush of taking down a mob with 23 other people for the first time, and even better, being the first ones to do it =/.
