I have complained about the Master drop rate before and after spending yet another night farming KC and getting all wood chests drop but one legendary crap piece, I wanted to put some numbers out there. Also, I am sick of hearing that Master Spell Drop rates are fine. Some servers drop well and some do not, however, my real problem is that there is a HUGE DISCREPANCY on the Master drop rates in t8 between level 71-74 and 75-80 spells. We have NO instance zone to farm for these uber rare masters so I hope I can pry the eyes open of the player base with these numbers and maybe SOE will LISTEN.


Ok here are the numbers. I created a lowbie alt on every server and counted the number of Masters on the broker from levels 71 through 80. Since my broker window counts 8 Masters per page that is how I based my numbers. So basically, I just counted the number of pages of Masters Spells and then multiplied the pages X 8 and that gave me the total number of Masters.

Example: Oasis Server 4 pages of Masters between 71-74 (4 pages x 8 Masters per page = 32 Masters ) and 40 pages of Masters between 75-80 ( 40 pages x 8 Masters per page = 320 Masters) for a grand total number of 352 Master spells between 71-80.

This does give a small percentage error but I think the raw numbers provided prove the point that there is a HUGE DISCREPENCY on the drop rate of Masters in Tier 8. (Note: I had wanted to show this as 71-75 and 76-80 but there were so many 75 masters that the problem is clearly in the 71-74 Category.

The drop rate in this expansion are lower compared to what we had at the end of EoF! But then again EoF didnt raise the lvl cap, and people were still hunting for the same masters as during KoS (which had also a High drop rate).

That being said, we are only 6 month into the expansion, so I don't expect everyone to be mastered out or the brokers beeing flooded with masters yet!

Already now on you see the perma masters on the broker, which have been put up an insane amount, are just medicore or useless to the class and people are not willing to pay for them, while other masters remain on the broker less then 5 minutes.

On top of that you need to add the server population! Just because a marked is filled with masters doesn't mean that server has a higher drop rate then others.

Imho, you would need to add the nbr of lvl 71-80 toons to your calculation, and look into each servers class population vs. masters hanging on the broker.

I am sorry, but counting the number of masters per server does not tell anything about a possible server discrepancy... and these numbers are imho useless, and don't say much

Snooze: You make one mistake. Eventhough a higher drop rate of lower tier 8 masters has only recently been introduced, counting the difference between lower and higher masters on the broker within one tier can not be compared with drop chances of previous tiers.

The OP means to show that a certain level range within this tier is not dropping enough. He is not talking about previous tiers, general drop rates or whatever. Furthermore by checking all servers you illiminate server population IF all servers show the same indication of numbers as they do here.

So there is two different drop rates comparisons

1 : tier 8 compared with previous tiers...possibly lower, but I am not sure about it.
2 : Tier 8 lvl 71-74 spells compared with T8 lvl 75-80

Maybe its to early to show a difference only 1-2 months after a change has been made by looking at the broker. In the near future this will however be a valid indication.

am sorry, but even in T7 it was much harder to get the lower tier masters.

I recall back in kos, the 61-64 and lvl 70 were the masters which were hard to get, and heck I got my last lvl 61 master only in EoF as i wasn't willing to pay 200p the few times i saw it on the broker!

Why was that, cause people farmed the higher lvl zones, which is very much the same, today!

And yes I have to agree with you, that it is to early for a comparrission if the latest SoE change has had an effect, but none the less I believe that the higher lvl masters will still outweigh the lower lvl masters!
Why because the 75+ is what you see pretty much in instances (CoA, MC, VoES), which you one can run in less then 2h with a solid group! And 2h is about the same time you may have a named repop in the contested dungeons who has a slim chance of a low lvl master ...

You have also concider the fact that a lot of the brokered masters are repeats. I know on Permafrost there are 5 Assassin masters and 3 of them are the same.

Not all the masters have even been discovered yet on our server. I got a server discovery on a Warlock master the other night. Off a trash mob in Fens no less.
