If my math are "ok" I am not sure, it look something like that:
Before you had a "natural" 25% chance to get a master for someone in the group, if you were in a full group with 6 differents classes
Now you have first 30% chance to get smart loot, and if it doesn't trigger, 25% out of the 70% left to get something that corresponds to someone in the group. Again as a full group of 6 different classes.
That means that if a master drop, you have 47,5% chance to get something for someone in the group, or at least for the right classes, and 47,5% / 6 that it something for your class, which is 7,83%
Since it seems that the master drop rate is around 12% if it hasn't been changed. Then you have around 0.93% (7,83% of 12%) to drop a master for your class on each mob, and 0.58% (with smart loot based on 30%) to be SURE that it something you haven't scribed yet. Cause a dev stated that smart loot does look at your spellbook.
So well that's only 1 master every 93 named killed approximatively, since there is around 30 spells per class to upgrade, you ll have just to kill something like 2790 named to be full masters.
Of course, you can increase your chances dramatically if you go there with less than 6 people, idealy in duo or even solo (that would be only 465 named to kill solo!)
Basically, smart loot my ass. Unless they upped the 12% drop rate, it won't change much.

Am I understanding this correctly?
Masters will be smart loot? Sounds kinda dumb.
If the masters were on a high drop rate it would sound better. I could be wrong.

Definitely not soloable. Well, trashmobs sometime drops legend too, not sure about epic/masters.

The gear seems perfect, sprinkle in a few good but rare fabled of t1-3 quality and we're gold. It's also really nice to see that they took a page from PROPER FUCKING SET GEAR DESIGN and made the crit/+damage be a part of a set affect rather than on the specific piece. They fucked up VP pretty badly when they didn't do it in the first place, and again when they revamped it but still left it fucked up. Better late than never I suppose...

QQ more. Sounds like you're not smart enough to a) make money or b) spend money. Masters have been broker material since day 1, they're a part of the game's economy and soe obviously wants to keep it that way

To somewhat repost what I said on the official forums:
Master I spells have been trivialized beyond the point that they are rather meaningless. The broker is full of Masters. Getting Mastered out just takes a little farming for the plat to buy them. I would love to go back to the old days when getting a Master really meant something and other people would talk about it. More masters dropping did not equal more fun in end because it didn't mean anything to get the Masters anymore. The thing is we can't go back you can't put that genie back in the bottle we can only go forward from here and learn from past mistakes. Time to up the tier to Master III and keep them as rare as fuck. Give us something everyone can work towards for a good long time.

I love how the underplayed classes say its too easy to get mastered out.
Try playing one of the essentials and say that. I have seen 1 templar master drop since the expansion started and alot of the staple spells are 150+ plat each on broker.
Needless to say I wont be full masters for a LONG time.
