I cant remember what it was and I dont even know if this is still the way crits work but i remember it being something like (max-min)/delay any help is appreciated, thanks.

Do you mean

(crit% X 1.09 (max - min) + max + min) / delay

equals crit adjusted DR

For the Delay used in that formula does it use weapon's posted delay or actual delay?

Posted delay...I think.

Actual delay would factor in your haste mod, and afaik haste doesn't make you crit harder.

I could be wrong though.

It doesn't actually matter, as long as you use the same factor throughout. Since that's the case, it's enough to simply look at the unhasted numbers when making comparisons on weapons. There's no weapon (x) that's going to perform better than weapon (y) only when hasted past amount (z).

What is this formula supposed to figure out?

Crit = dmgroll * 1.3 or Maxdmg+1, whichever is higher.

Except now people can have more than a 30% crit modifier.

i think the formula they were talkin about is to figure out what weapon to use (based on your crit %)

Damage Rating is really the most basic factor to look at. It's only accurate in a vacuum. You also need to look at how fast you'll be swinging (most weapons are 4s nowadays), what your crit rate is. To some degree only the max hit number matters, this'll be the case if your crit rate is exceedingly high.

The formula referenced above seeks to give a modified damage rating to be used for ranking purposes after factoring in your crit rate. It's not perfect, but it's close.

If you're interested in more of the math behind it feel free to PM me.

Default Re: Weapon Crit Formula

I have run this formula on many of the weapons to compare them against each other. If the weapon adds crit, then I incorporated that into its relative power. Weapons that add DA got half the DA value as extra crit for comparison purposes.

Throatripper
Incand. Blade 2.28%
Mallet 1.41%
Serrator 0.61%
Lifespike 0.13%
Baxe of Venom 0.03%
Sabre of Death 0.15%
Dissector 0.45%
Doomblade 0.12%
Worm Tooth 0.28%
Blood & Anger 0.59%
Coupled Hammer 8.65%
Ethereal Sabre 0.91%

Throatripper is the baseline for this list. The percent number is the improvement over the previous weapon. So if you want to know how much better Worm Tooth is over Lifespike, you have to add up all the % between the two.

This is highly theoretical and does not account for +slash/pierce/crush that may be on some of these items.

.... id be interested in knowing the logic behind this... seems awfully arbitrary to me. Im not sure why you value crit twice as much as double attack.

but then, so does factoring the weapons +crit/double attack at all. I mean, if you're factoring in a weapons +crit and +double, why arent you factoring in +dps? +attack speed? procs? +str?

and if you're running a formula, for the purpose of mathematically proving which weapon is better, basing one of the key constants in the equation off an incredibly arbitrary estimation (double attack factoring half as much as crit), doesnt that defeat the purpose?
