I had the complete selection of AQ rewards from Ian C in QH. I betrayed to the other class and now I can't wear them in my appearance slots anymore. Ian also has an assistant that says "if you have any of that old armor Ian gave you I'd be happy to trade it for new stuff." Any idea how to get this to work?

The assistant is from waaaay back when they did some messing around with the quests and altered the rewards - they put him in so that if you had done the quest pre-update you could buy the new items.

Yep. Gonna have to start over from the beginning if you want a full suit of quest armor.
