Merge stats
Someone made a post about this recently but I couldnt find it. I really cant think of any valid reason why things like spell crit/melee crit, double attack/ranged double attack and hell maybe even CA damage/Spell damage shouldnt be merged.
Im sure its been brought up 100 times before and Ive seen stats like these merged in other mmos in the past and its worked out really well, hybrids like Crusaders, Bards may be a bit too strong at first but class balance is an easy fix.

Main reason this would be fucking dumb is it would overpower hybrid classes like crazy. I mean it wouldnt be as bad because of the proc nerf.
2nd it would make everyone go for exactly the same gear, not that it doesn't already happen to an extent but at least there is some variability between different classes perfect gear

Let SoE do something they thought up, not doing things that other games do. Hopefully they can do something interesting.

If you merged Melee DA + Ranged DA, casters (more specifically wizards) would want spell DA merged with that. Then, ofcourse, you have cloth items that suit wizards more going to SKs.
Think about what Melee DA + Ranged DA merge would do - how OP would that make rangers for a start? Rangers need a mixture of the 2.
Next, All crits merged into 1. Again, Rangers would love that, they would be the new assassin, and also classes such as dirges, SK, etc would be far more DPS than they should. My dirge already rapes my wizards parse as it is.
And think about how brilliant inquisitors would then be with their autoattacks, and furys outparse wizards as it is...
I'm sure many people understand where it is I'm coming from, it's like saying we should combine Wis, Int, Agi + Str as they all effect different classes power, even though at the end of the day, INT increases spell damage, STR increases autoattack, Wis increases mitigations and Agi increases avoidance or whatever it does... Both just as bad.
And tbh even if it was a good idea, SOE would get it wrong and decide it isn't as important as other things that need sorting, and then classes would be stuck in the loophole, as summoners are now, of not being able to get into raids as they have been filled with rangers, bards, crusaders, druids, etc...

If the devs do what they have said will be done it should balance out fine. Now, I am not saying it will be 100% right when they first release it but it will get there.
The Devs plan to change each classes base critical multipliers for each crit type to keep things balanced. So, for example, as a swashbuckler my melee/ranged crit multiplier might be 1.3x but my spell might only be 1.1x (not that it really matters for spell crit anymore). The hardest classes are going to be classes like Wardens, they have a lot of AAs to boost melee so they would need good multipliers for melee, spell and heal crit (heal is kind of a given though). If SoE does it right they could just change the warden AAs to boost melee crit multiplier so they only get the benefit when they have those AAs, the same can be done for all the other healers with AAs like that. Crusaders already get high spell crit and melee crit so their multipliers might stay as they are.
Rangers will probably get a slight boost to their DPS because of the increase to melee DA. Keep in mind a number of their CAs are melee not ranged so I dont see a big deal in them not having to obtain 2 crit types anymore.
As far as merging DA it wont really do much for anyone, rangers wont be up meleeing a mob anymore just because they have tons of melee DA now. They will still be shooting it with arrows except when they run in and use their melee CAs. It might help rogues on ranged encounters but its not going to tip any scales.

I'd rather be a predator that could choose to AA spec into either a ranged or melee role, or a bard that could choose to buff casters instead of melee.
That's what we have now, except by combining the classes you just turn the concept of "betraying" into a broad scale AA respec event. Gives players (and guilds) more flexibility. Good for long term player satisfaction and retention? Probably!
