Default Outting The Club

I realize this won't make me very popular with some people, but I think it's time to talk about how overpowered this item is.

Yes, I'm talking about every priest and fighter's favorite two hander - the Vraksakin Claw Club.

The two hander on the left drops of Woushi, the boss mob of Emerald Halls, which I believe most would agree is presently the hardest raid instance in EQ2.

The two hander on the right, the Vraksakin Claw Club, drops off a dragon in Temple of Scale that can be one grouped by a pick up group wearing Xegonite armor.

Forget about the adornments on each weapon when you look at these pics. Just look at the weapon itself.

The EH two hander has nicer stats, sure, but the only purpose of two hand melee weapons is to cause damage - only a sub-functional retard would use a two handed melee weapon for its stats rather than it's damage.

The EH spear shows a better damage rating, but that is misleading to the point of being meaningless. The spread on The Club is wider and higher. The Club has twice as good a proc as the spear. Both weapons have the exact same delay and proc rate.

With each weapon equipped and just doing autoattack damage, The Club parses about 25 percent higher damage than the EH spear. That's true regardless of mob type, in apples vs. apples comparisons of just standing and killing a mob with the spear using nothing but autoattack, and then killing the same mob with The Club.

Items in this game should not be like this. I should have the incentive to upgrade my items. I should want to get better, fancier weapons from mobs that are harder to kill. It should never be the situation that raid guilds camp and farm easy mobs to get the best weapon of it's type in game.

The bottom line is this, in my opinion: The damage on these weapons should be reversed. The Club is way overpowered and will continue to be the best two hander in game until the next expansion unless this is changed. And that would make no sense at all.

You have seen the 2 handers from the avatars right?

Only the sword from Valor.

Do the Avatars drop 2 handed clubs and spears that hit for more than The Club?

If so, I stand corrected on the sentence you quoted, but still believe The Club shouldn't be a better weapon than every other 2 hander in KoS and EoF except from the Avatars.

The new Bo from Fear is a little better I think.. The pic I saw was all french, but the numbers looked good, and the Axe of Unending War is just insane.

I would also vote instead of having the club nerfed, make the spear a little better. Monks and clerics cant use a spear, so their weapon being nerfed for one that cant be used by them would suck.

All in all, I think its just unfortunate that the weapon with the ideal damage spread was placed on what ended up being a very simple epic. I dont think anyone taking their first look at that club would have seen what it has become today, and I think GDoH (which could be another argument just like this one) was the same way when people first saw it.

Based on what I've seen so far with EOF weapons and the upgrades they made to the EH ones a while back, the Devs are getting used to the numbers that make the most of damage raitings now that crits are around, and hopefully that lets em place the good ones where they belong next time around.

I would like to point out also - I'm pretty sure I've looted and tried EVERY shaman equipable two hander from KoS, and a few from EoF.

The Arcane Spear from Woushi is the closest thing damage wise I've ever found to The Club, but The Club is still far superior. The Club blows away every other two hander from KoS, including the one that drops off the Princes, and everything that drops in Deathtoll.

My point in making this thread was that I've never understood why a beginner raid mob in Temple of Scale drops the best weapon of it's kind in game (again, if a better 2 hander that I can equip on LFG drops from an Avatar, I don't know of it).

I've always resented how overpowered "The Club" consiering where it comes from and that it still doesn't have much that compares to it (Staff of Growth being the only thing i can think of).
