I think everyone can agree that a pvp server would require pvp to be enabled, and that the game is still considered EQ2.
Rather than playing the word game though I guess we can get to the root of the issue, which is if PVP servers should encourage PVP first and PVE second, or the other way around. Clearly it has always been PVE first and PVP second, which is consistent with your comment that it is eq2 with pvp enabled. The new developer is obviously attempting to turn the focus on pvp servers away from pve, these changes are being welcomed by some and condemned by others. Personally I see no harm from turning the focus away from pve on pvp servers, since there are plenty of servers where people can focus on pve.
I think the cost of the pvp gear the way it is now is low, but I think that is cause it is so late in the xpansion, just to give the mass's a chance to get the gear and play with it for a few months. I expect that the pvp gear cost in T9 will be similar to what we saw in TSO. We can't be sure though, so I think it is important that we feedback this on the official forums as constructively as possible. We'd hate to wait around to see and then at SF launch the pvp gear is obtained within the first week and people are bored for the whole expansion. To help combat the zerg I suppose they can reimplement a fame system, that seemed to help before. Maybe some thought could be put into it to prevent all the annoyances we saw in the past with the famewhoring. Fame+Decay may be worth a try who knows.
Anyways I hardly see this gear being game breaking this late in the expansion, hopefully some of the scrubbier guilds can get past Xebnok and Tythus now. Lets just make sure we feedback so that when SF comes out we don't have everyone in full sets of gear in the first week. As funny as it would be to have all the raid WW1st come from PVP servers, I don't think it would best for the game or the server, in the long run.
Also I can see this making the exiles a little butthurt, since the gear advantage will be narrowing on a larger scale than before. I think that alone would be enough to bias their opinion of the new gear, that being said though, I think us in faction can be bias too cause we get lots of new toys for cheaps. Most important to really think about the health of the server and if this is good or bad for it.
