This is actually total bullshit.

I am a Chef by trade, I used to work in a very nice fine dining Italian resturant. We had on the menu an option for people to pay $100, sit down, and we would just start sending them out food.

These meals would usually end up being 14 courses+, and would take upwards of 3 hours from start to finish. Since we made them on the spot, if we had 2 tables both arder this on the same night, there meals were often totally diffrent.

Now, if someone had come in and said they wanted this particular offer, but the rest of their table was going to order off the a' la' carte menu, we would have told them, politely, to fuck off. if someone had have come in and ordered it and said they dont like tomato, so could we not use any at all, we would have told them to fuck off as well (would not have been very polite with that one... italian without tomato? wtf?).

Whats the point in all of thes? simple. You do not tell SoE what to make. They make a procuct, they put it on the market, you chose to either buy it or not buy it. You do not tell SoE how you want the product to be. You can give suggestions, offer your ideas, reply if they ask for feedback, but you have no right at all to TELL them how to make their own product.

If you go buy a car, do you tell the car manufacturer exactly what you want in a car? or do you just pick which of the options they provide you with for the particular car you are buying?

Actually what he is describing is common in upscale restaurants and people pay through the nose for it. $100 a plate is extremely reasonable for this type of experience. Down here in New Orleans, you get this if the chef "feels like it" and you can easily drop a couple of grand on a 6 -7 personal party. This includes having your wines selected for you.

Sounds like you are one of these "the customer is always right" people.
