WTF? No loot?

How is it that an Epic mob doesn't drop ANY loot? Not even a recipe scroll? I was in the Temple of Scale last night with my level 60 Dirge accompanied by a level 80 Shadowknight and 80 Warden. The Epics were not named...merely Temple Guardians (67^^^ Epic x2). They were dark orange...would that make any difference or does anyone know if they are set as no loot? We were there in an attempt to level my Dirge faster by fighting orange mobs...but the XP was nothing special (with 9% from being mentored and 50% from vitality) as the Epic only gave 1% XP. It just seemed that neither of them even dropped a small chest let alone anything better.

They are trash mobs. Epic, or otherwise, they are not required to drop anything.

Plus, you'd likely do better with yellow mobs... or questing for XP and AA.

OMG THE MOBS AT THE FRONT OF THE ZONE ARE HEROIC! THEY SHOULD DROP SOMETHING TOO!

I suppose if I had been playing this game for years on end I would have known this. I guess we learn something new every day. Today I learned epics aren't required to drop loot and that Udoaka is a post count troll.

I understand this forum is called "eq2flames" however it is also the best source for information on the game I have found. Keep in mind those of you who have little regard for newer players or those who do not raid 7 times a week...if the only players left are those who do nothing but raid and exclude / alienate newer players the game will die off quicker then it is.

@Dranikdoomwarder - I know Heroics do not always drop loot. However as this was the first time I have fought an epic and it did not even drop a useless item I wanted to check.

OP dont mind the children they cant help it......

Epic means nothing then it is designed for more then one group to kill it.Also control effects generally do not work on them baring some enchanter mezzes/stuns that have a immunity timer to the effect attached after landing it on the epic.

As with any mob...if its not a named .....its trash so it can drop nothing or even a master its random.

Grind on blue-yellow conned mobs for most effective xp......there is no bonus for orange or red conned since its capped at a certain amount.
