It won't cost you that much to max out tinkering. It's only cost me a few plat to make it to 210. Lemme give you some tips.

    1. Start off by making a noob at on Qeynos or Freeport isle. They have fast respawns and fixed spawning locations for nodes so its extreamly easy to build up all your first tier supplies.

    2. Go get the 2.5 second and +harvesting skill tinkered items and go on a rampage in the t2-t7 zones or resort to trading or buying if it works for you.

    3. Don't waste TIME with making pristines, although if your buying raws then you may want to so that you get the nice return bonus of raws.
    - If your not wasting time on pristines then stop right after the 1st stage of the item. It gives what seems to be exactly the same chance as pristine to give a skill up. If it isn't the same chance then at least your making items at a rate where it preceeds what ever higher chance a pristine would give. (Example: I can make about 4 tinkered items in the time it takes to make one pristine, thus giving me more skill checks and exceeding the one skill check that a pristine would give.)

    4. If your harvesting and get a rare, then post out in the good or evil side trading channels that you wish to trade that one rare for 300 commons of what ever your lowest of. Usually you will need loam more then anything else. This has worked very fast and very well.

    5. If you can withstand the mind numbing pain of it then you can grind out one tier in about 1.5 hours or a bit longer. Once I've harvested/traded for enough materials then thats all the time it takes me to break a tier from stright up 1st level combines. Usually I'll stick with whatever item is the most material efficent.

    6. Get the tinkering belt from Unrest.

Thats about all the tips I can think of.

Tinkering to me seems to be the best way to let a crafter have a fair but clear advantage in raids. Time spend equals more skills and useful items to use on raids and even grouping. (Even the fun you get out of using the items rocks, I love my parachutes and my slow fall boots. )

Totally agree, if only one person on a raid was a transmuter it would be enough. You can just have the raid do what ever your looting system is on what the result is on the transmutation of the item.

If every member of a raid force was a tinkerer, then it would be mean that everyone would have alot more skills and special effects that they could call to their command. Along with never going without having a mending bot(which doesnt really happen unless you suck so bad that you die 10 times in 55 mins).

Tier one is the only really expensive tier. I suggest you do what i did. The noob talent search. Just shout in 1-10 chat that you are willing to pay 5-10 plat for raws. When you get you influx of tells just tell them 5 plat for 1000 loam. noobs have noidea what they have lol. Do this for any expensive raw you come across. (It isn't always the loam) I was t7 tinkerer in 4 or 5 days after i started grinding and it cost me 35 plat. I didn't harvest a thing.

Also the 3 sec cast fd can come in handy if you prepare. The tank goes down, drop all your deagro's and watch the mages die. Hope you finish casting in time.

    1.5? Typo?

The fuels alone cost more than that (i'm at 344/350) as of this morning. Been working on it this last week.

I've spent probly 30-40pp total, tho 10 of that was on Bluprints and rares for a hover platform (Hey I just wanted one!).

fuels dont cost anything if you sell everything you make back to vendor. Wasn't counting what i made for myself like 40 or so overclocked manastones hehe. But yeah i didnt go for the 5-10p blueprints we got several tinkerer's that already have em and if i want one just have them make it and save me cost to buy the recipe. So just for harvestables about 1.5 plat. Took me about 6 days or so to hit 350 working on it a hour or two a day. Probably got lucky on skillups though /shrug.

also i didn't make every recipe, i chose ones that used the harvestables that were most common and cheapest over ones that used the more expensive ones. Think i leveled to 350 doing maybe 9-10 recipes.
