    Default +X damage and +X heal items with enchanters

    This is no news at all, but I'm posting it in hopes that one of the devs decides to take a look at it.

    At present items that add 'up to +X damage' do nothing for enchanter reactives. That is four spells for coercers (including Harmonious Link's damage proc in there) and the termination effect for Breakdown, which are generally a healthy percentage of a coercer's dps. Nor does it add to power damage (a.k.a. power drain) which is just another form of damage.

    For coercers this makes the 'up to +50' gained on getting all seven pieces of the fabled set a real slap in the face. Most other mages get +8% crit chance, which does impact reactives.

    Then there is the matter of the +X heal items. Coercers can get manaward, a coercer AA ability. It is a ward, but it happens to protect against damage to power rather than health. Symmetry items for some reason raise the ward ability (though not in a manner that is consistent with the published mechanics of these items), but items that give a pure +x heal do not. Nor do they impact mana regen abilities. I can understand not wanting to impact the persistent group mana regen buffs, as that might make them too powerful (though they would still be limited by the in-combat power regen cap) I see less reason for limiting the short-duration single target or group ones.

    So, consistency of how these items work would be appreciated.

    Expect a change to how +healing and +damage are calculated soon(tm). It's a problem we've wanted to fix for some time, but didn't want to rush out a change until we were happy with how it was applied to all classes who can gain from it's benefits.

    My assumption has been that since the effects are normalized on casting time, that the +X items were treating the reactives as 0 second procs. I can see wanting this in general so that item procs are not improved by these items, but that theory fails for two reasons:

    1) Cleric healing reactives benefit from +X heal items. I don't see how mechanistically they are different than the illusionist reactives (cast on a fellow player).

    2) Initially there was an issue where items that are 'up to +X poison damage' were adding to applied poisons, using the casting time to apply the poison as the basis of the normalization. The poison damage itself is a proc, so the mechanism was there.

    So not having these items affect enchanter reactives has been possible from the start, but it just hasn't been implemented. Now we are being told that it was being held off until its impact on all class affected could be evaluated. In the meantime, coercers are having their hate add cut drastically (roughly to 1/3 of what it is now) and are expected to be able to make that up with hate transfer. That hate transfer is going to be hampered by the fact that these items do not affect reactives or power drains, meaning the coercer is generating less hate than s/he could be. Regardless of how soon(TM) that these changes go in, whatever they might be, will that be in time to salvage the coercer's place in raids?

    Lockeye seems to think that the MT group will remain having a dirge and a coercer so that hate add is still capped. Everyone that I've spoken with is talking about ditching the coercer and putting an assassin or swash in place, as a warrior MT with the Str line has +10% hate add, +36% from the dirge is only 4% below cap.

    Don't forget, if +damage.........and i mean just +damage and no +heals..... is being applied to a lifetap, it considers the heal component a DoT tick and calculates the added damage that way. So necros and SKs get screwed with them too!

    I was going to ask, if this incoming change would effect all classes or just enchanter reactives?
