Default Illusionist returning to the game and LFguild

Hi, I'm Recca lvl 50 Illusionist and I quit around July 2005. To cut to the chase I'm interested in playing again and looking for a guild where hopefully a few things can happen.

1) I'd like some people to talk to while I'm soloing or what have you since MMOs without people are boring. Plus since I basically skipped 3 years of content its nice to have some who can say "go to this zone at 63 for some good quests"

2) Eventually I'd like to raid again. Granted I'm essentially a nub now and way behind the power curve but ultimately thats a temporary thing. Honestly I doubt I'd find a raiding guild to suit my tastes willing to coddle a nub leveling from 50, but you never know.

And for everyone else with a bit of spare time and a bit of boredom here's a little bit about myself and my history and ancient Kithicor drama.
I played EQ2 from pretty much day one, and some of my achievements include being an officer of Trinity, a successful raiding guild at the time, and being the community correspondent for the illusionist class.

Around the release of the Froglok rescuing instance in Feerott Trinity was going through some tough times. Older members were quiting as raid content at the time was stupid easy and very repetitive, and recruiting at the time was extremely difficult as "rival" guild Fortitude was seen as a better choice due to poor leadership choices in Trinity ( primarily we denied a lot of quality players simply because we didn't want to make two raids and such, but also I was a pretty big asshole at the time).

Several events occurred in rapid succession which put me off from the game and lead to my quiting. First, many of my friends form leveling and raiding like Vesar, Gospell, and Shendig has all quit. Second, Many of those friends were GM/officers of Trinity eventually it trickled down to me being GM a position I immediately knew I had no talent for and no inclination to keep. The only officer left at the time besides myself was Khalysta and we were of similar "hardcore" minds about raiding, and gave short shrift to whining and complaints which made for unhappy raiders with the more sympathetic officers like shendig and vesar gone.

Then while I was attending the FanFaire ( on SoE's dime thankfully) there was something of a mass exodus from Trinity, and furthermore I talked with the spell guy about Illusionists and lost a lot of faith in the direction of the class as something other than a breeze bot. So I came back and basically "gave up" on the game and the guild

At this point I had quit, but about a month later I was contacted and it seems there was some scuffle over the guild bank. Trinity on the whole hoarded (for no good reason other than loot sucked anyway) a great deal of rare crafting materials from raiding and Khalysta was the guild banker. I had instructed her to distribute the bulk of the bank when I had quit, but as I understand it this never happened so that was some drama.

Since then I played WoW was quite successful this is my armory The World of Warcraft Armory if anyone is curious about that. I had a Phoenix flying mount and the goodies that go along with that.

Anyway Long Story short here I am back in EQ 2 3 years later having matured both as a Raid Leader in WoW, and toning down my elitism to more tolerable levels.

So if you want to guild me up let me know I promise not to be too terrible for too long.

Your name sounds familiar from the old illusionist world-wide channel.

And yah, talking to Lockeye would make any Enchanter quit, lol. Of course, he fucked up and made us basically a DPS class, but that's another story!

But honestly, you're better off uhm, not coming back :\

May I ask why you're disillusioned with the game Pinski. I mean obviously these are forums so everyone hates the game and is miserable, but is it because EQ2 as a game is lackluster/uninteresting/unimproved from the days of yore, or is it simply the state of the Illusionist class?

Illusionists are overpowered, they're probably THE class to be. After being one for 3 years, it makes sense to be one because of how overpowered they are.

It's not that I hate the game, it's just that there are things that I dislike about the game that to me seem like there are easy solutions to fix these problems. Mostly the lag, some of it is the itemizaiton.

But honestly, being an Illusionist isn't a reason to hate the game, it's a reason to still like the game because of how overpowered the class is now.

Illusionist are not overpowered, they are a powerful class with great dps and some very nice utility.

They are in my opinion exactly how each of the classes in EQ2 should actually play, sadly this is not the case at present. There are a few other classes of the same ilk in EQ2, I dont consider those overpowered either.

So you essentially don't know what overpowered means then?

Hi Recca,

If you are serious about returning to EQ2 then I'd like to make the following suggestions when it comes to your choice of guild.

1. Your play style, will as you point out, initially be mostly soloing a groups, therefore it would make sense to find a guild with enough toons who are around your level who are on at similar times to you. In which case you are probably looking for one of the larger guilds. The top three guilds when it comes to active membership at the moment on Kith are Grenricks Guidance, Legion of Steel and Knights Who Say Kni.

2. You say that you would eventually like to get into raiding, however you didn't really state how hardcore you wanted to raid so my suggestion would be to find a guild that caters for all levels of raiders. To my knowledge there are quite a number of non raid guilds on the server who do occasional raiding, perhaps once or twice a week such as Society of Depravity and Grenricks Guidance. However there are only really two guilds who offer both casual and hardcore raiding options, Legion of Steel and Dragons of the old order who are allied to each other for raiding purposes. Hardcore they raid three times per week, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (all 24 raid spots currently filled) but in addition they also run casual raids on the other 4 days with participants taken from both of these guilds and a core of friends from out of the guilds. A sign up system is used for all harcore and casual raids with spots in the hardcore raid filled (when one of the 24 can't make it for some reason) from the casual raider sign ups. I believe the plan over the coming weeks is for them to run two simultaneous raids on some of the weekend days, both hardcore and casual since it seems like there will be enough interest to fill two raids from sign ups and occasional OOC calls for specific classes.

If you haven't already returned to game and found a home and would like to talk to anyone in these guilds the contact info for them is as follows:

Grenricks Guidance - Grenrick (Leader) or any officer currently online
Legion of Steel - Kahling (Founder) Dibblecogs, Jiac, Annais (leaders) although you can talk to any officer currently online about recruitment, including myself.
Knights Who Say Kni - Xushen/Thoragatchi (Leader) he's on a strange times since he's in Australia or any officer currently online.
Dragons of the Old Order - Amana/Sscath/Saxx/Hexra (Leader), Cureya/Borin (Leader)
Society of Depravity - Orenishi/Chia (Leader), Barakuzz/Eensy (think he's a Leader but I may be wrong)

There are plenty of guilds who I have not mentioned and Kithicor is populated these days by good peeps, some of em are a bit odd but they are essentially all pretty decent. I've only named the guilds above because those are the ones that I am most familiar with.

As I say, please feel free to either PM me or send me an in-game tell at any time if you would like to talk more

Good luck with your search for a new EQ2 home

Depends on your defintion of overpowered, way too many people on these forums cry like babies about being class x being overpowered when a class can do something their class cannot.

Like I said before illusionist are a great class at the moment, very good dps, and great utility, so what. SOE should be fixing other classes before nerfing a fun class to play under the banner of them being overpowered.

Why are coercers/troubs harder to find than any other class, because nobody wants to play them as they are not fun to play at all. The solution to this problem is not to bring everyone down to their level but to fix the classes themselves.

Like I said illusionist are fine and should be a example of how all the classes play.

Recca, I suggest checking the guild progression thread there are a bunch of guilds who are pretty much all at the same standard of raiding, mostly the end of T2. The next step up are the guilds pushing on into VP, then you have the elite guilds like CL/TR.

You're dumb for saying Illusionists aren't overpowered.

Illusionist have the best set of buffs in the game, and they can dish out dps comparable to a sorcerer... Yeah, that's not overpowered or anything. I mean every class should be able to do everything. So clearly they are not overpowered because they cannot wear plate and tank, clearly that is why illusionist are not overpowered.
