Default Correct me if i'm wrong...

I'm not sure about this, but...

You can buy LoN cards (in game items) for real-life cash.
You can trade LoN cards for in game plat.

How is this different than buying plat with real-life cash?

It's not a direct trade. It's like saying "selling CS:S acct for 100p, pst" and it actually working out. Getting ripped off is about 400x more likely.

There's a chance you get ripped off on any crafting transaction where the commission system isn't used.

But just like there, you can petition to get your items/cash back if someone fails to hold up their end of the bargain.

does SOE actually support the trade of cards (or boosters in the LON interface) for plat? didn't think they did. i know they will support trading the booster in game before they are in the LON interface for plat but those you can't get with cash.

SoE does not sanction and the EULA is nearly the same as the main EQ game. All the digital content belongs to them. We don't own our characters, or anything on them. We don't own the cards. Thus we cannot trade property for either of them, except as allowed by the EULA. The EULA allows us to buy card packs as a license in the same way as paying the monthly fee allows us to play our characters.
