I've been gone for a few weeks, and I haven't gotten the chance to play Legends of Norrath. I'm planning on trying to play pretty well, and stocking up to do so, but I'm curious as to what prior CCGs it plays like.

Anyone able to offer any insight?

Plays like MTG imo. Then again, my experience with the genre is limited to MTG and Vampires.

From reading the rules, it sorta seems like a cross of MTG and LOTR. I'm definitely excited to play it though once it goes live and I get back to gaming. :-)

People keep saying it's similar to MTG but honestly I think it's much closer to YuGiOh, and barely shares similarities with MTG relative to that. MTG plays a lot different for three main reasons: summoning sickness, land (control of your mana resources), and the fact that it's actually possible to damage your opponent with your creatures even if they have creatures out. All 3 are HUGE (especially the summoning sickness thing IMO).

My favorite game out of the ones I played was honestly Doomtown. Too bad nobody knew what the fuck it was :-(

Dont go in with MTG mindset it will really screw with how you think of combat and the whole attack/defense then damage thing

this is off-topic, but i just have to say that i am so happy there are NO FUCKING COUNTERSPELLS in LoN.

anyhow, of all the games i've played i think it played like the Dune CCG, since that kinda had a quest element to it too...

i didnt reallly like how they slowed things down in the gold edition, in open i remember those game where i could win the game by turn #2.
i was soo hated due to the kind of over optimized deck i had that people were refusing the play against me unless it was during a tournament.
my funniest deck was a dishonnor scorpion with only event in the destiny and some cockblocking cards in the fate (breach of etiquette, unrequited love darklord's favor etc etc)

doomtown was fun yah, but their was no one that wanted to invest money to play it, this game had potential .

AGREED!!!!! This game's similarities to MTG end with having units and exerting them. How they're exerted, how they enter the field, how you gain power, and how you deal and receive damage is totally different, and even after quite a few games (that I have yet to win... sigh) I still don't really 'get' it fully lol! I still kinda just click what's green!
