Re: How should SOE punish LoN beta exploiters ?
I'm not sure what the issue is, but the purpose of beta is to find problems and correct them. Personally, I think they should do 2 things for the LoN beta. 1) Deactivate all loot cards. This keeps bugs in the LoN game from effecting the live EQ2 servers in any tangible way. At the same time, people aren't forced to log onto the test server to test LoN. 2) Run the LoN beta like the typical game expansion betas, with a wipe at the end of the beta period. This, of course, means that something has to be done about buying booster packs. My first option would have been to give people the ability to get a few free booster packs for the beta test and not make them cost anything until the game is totally live. But what's done is done, and I think the best option right now is just to have the game remember what packs people have bought and to revert them back to unopened status at the end of the beta. Any trades you made in the beta period would thus be reverted.

Re: How should SOE punish LoN beta exploiters ?
What I don't understand is why during a "beta" as everyone is calling it do people have the option to pay real money for booster packs? That doesn't sound like a beta to me. Now then anyone spending money on a "beta" is kinda foolish to begin with. The problem though is now that an exploit exists all these people who spent 100's of dollars on this crappy card game in order to get items they can use on their char has more ramefications. SOE just has to say "well it was beta, what did you expect?" SOE will not and has not ever refunded money because of their incompetance. I mean honestly they put it on live servers so that foolish people would spend real money on their imaginary cards and items they planned on nerfing to begin with.
The smartest thing anyone could do, is not give SOE any more money regardless of the chance of getting a above average item. SOE has prolly made more money from this "beta" than it ever has from server transfers and station exchange, simply because some people spent well over $1000 bux just to get 1 item. I dunno about you but no item in game is worth that much. Hell most accounts aren't even worth that much.

The exploit was using Trial accounts to get free packs then trade them off to your main account. This would have never happened in live because you wont get free packs. So it wasn't really an exploit with LoN, just an oversight from the Devs that some people took advantage of.

This reminds me of that old duping story with the house dog items. I wonder who is going to Paris this time?

Flames now has 0 support from anyone. No TTH, no Zam (although I'm not sure how much there was), no SOE, no one.

You know, one would think that trial accounts wouldn't be flagged, if anything this says that their system of telling apart trial accounts from real accounts is broken.

Uhh... don't you have to buy at least one booster to be flagged for trading? Hence making that not work?

Doesn't mean you still can't buy one.
