LON - Station Exchange for everyone?

I see alot of posts with people wanting to trade plat for LON boosters, and it reminds me of plat sales, both from plat selling sites, and from station exchange.

So as it stands right now, if I want plat in game I can either buy it from a website, OR, I can buy boosters from LoN's website, and trade them for plat. I realize exchange rates may be slightly different for a flat out plat purchase Vs. a flat out LoN Trade for pLat purchase... but the concept is still very similar.

I guess my point is, people can indirectly purchase plat on every server now. Station exchange just has the toons also.

EDIT - BTW what is the going rate for 1 LON Booster pack anyhow?

I think you may be overestimating the situation as Boosters being used as an exchange medium. The reason that is not as you assume is the due to the boosters dropping in game.

Most people would rather just purchase it directly from the broker where it is a few seconds of typing booster into the search and being secure in knowing that you got the booster rather than trying to haggle with someone and hope they actually give you the booster after you give them the plat.

Plus, I think you would end up losing money by purchasing boosters for plat.

1 booster from broker = 5 plat
1 booster from SoE store = $3
1 plat from seller = ?
using boosters like Gambit from X-Men to kill Naggy = priceless

$3 for 5 PLat is about the same rate as Station exchange... or pretty close.
And yeah I see what your saying about the "Hoping they give you the plat after the trade". Good point.

wts lon cards for plat is exactly the same as wtb plat for rl money...

honestly.. soes approach to that was completly wrong. legalizing plat selling / buying via lon cards was the single biggest mistake (except for a certain update in swg lol) that soe ever did.

I agree. As for paying real life money and getting in game items for it I really do hope they stop that shit or its back to pure fps games only where that shit isn't tolerated.

The only things that sell for plat are the items that drop in game. There isn't a way, that I know of to get a booster that you bought in the LoN client to a game. So the boosters in game can be used as a medium of exchange, but with the popularity of the game, and the amount of rare cards you can get in posted trades with just 1 booster pack, I would have to think that more are getting /claimed than are dropping. I might be wrong though.
