I've not played much LoN but I've played other TCG's and...

Usualy, you look at abilites on the cards, find ones that work well together to win the game in one way or another. Usually make a deck to specialize on something is better than a broad deck. Try the deck out a few times, and see what works and what doesnt work, and try and change it. Play games with some good players, and see what cards they use, and what tactic they try...

If you're just starting out I recommend working through the scenarios. The best way to do that is make a deck that is questing centric. You won't be able to quest your way through all of the scenarios, but it will give you a good start.

To determine which class you should play, sort your cards by class type. Then count the number in each. I had double the fighter cards as I did any else, so I went fighter.

The game's not terribly hard. Once you figure out how to do what and when things will start to click. Try to make your deck around 60 cards - 20 abilities, 20 creatures, 10 tactics 10 items to start.

When you build your deck you set out for a purpose the deck has, either it's meant to quest faster than the opponent, kill the opponent with your avatar, kill the opponent with your units. After you've chosen which of these you want to do you need to figure out what cards you have that can help you accomplish this task. and build your deck around those cards. You can have max 4 cards of a single card in the deck, so you want to put 3 or 4 of the most important cards for your decks purpose.

After deciding what you want to do with the deck and what you have to help you with it, build an avatar that will help you accomplish the goal, throw in some blockers(low cost units) and you should be good to go. Just read the cards and you're well on your way.
