I just hope they allow some tournament play with the older sets, like an "extended" tournament. While this is not magic the gathering, Magic did set all standards for CCGs.
Wrong ... it only takes 50 cards to build a playable deck. Also, new players can trade for oathbound easily cause the game is flooded with those cards. People who spent money them could trade them, now they can't. Neat concept to rob people of their money.

SOE is saying to people who spent money on the game fuck you give us your money. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE NEW PLAYER! Those cards can be obtained because people will TRADE for them ... Hence Trading Card Game !

fuck !

He's actually right.

Cards are literally worth nothing in LoN because so many people don't play the game, they just buy boosters for loot cards and don't give 2 shits about the actual cards they get.

I haven't played LoN in like 2 expansions so I'm not sure how much the game changed, but most of the imba Oathbound cards got nerfed to hell once the 2nd set came out so I'm not really sure why they decided to remove them.

I spent alot of $$$ on LoN in the past and I was thinking of hanging out and playing more, but this change makes me not want to even check on this game in the future and even though it would'nt affect me too much, it goes hand in hand with somebody in this company's obvious agenda:

'To fuck the hell out of the remaining customers, for whatever dumbass reason'.

Maybe somebody over there wants to buy this trainwreck for cheap, who knows.

Amen.

I'm finally sittin on x4 of all commons, all uncommons, a shitload of promos and most of the worthwhile rares. Now every few months when they release a new set an old one will go away?

Fuck that noise and screw trying to "keep up" if its going to be worthless in the near future. They seriously expect customers to PAY for that crap mechanic?

LoN isnt MtG, and LoN is no where near stable enough in size or playerbase for such nonsense.

Whats even more fucked is that this new set actually has duplicates of SOME of the oathboaund cards.

Basicly, to put it in Magic the Gathering terms, Oathbound was a Core set, IE 1st Edition, (Or Alpha if you prefer), and Travellers is 2nd Edition, (Unlimited, or Revised, if you prefer), and is meant to be the baseline set. I think if this is the path they want to go they need to completely revamp the way they name sets.

wait .. you agreed? I am confused and bewildered..

Yes the reprints of the 1st set are exactly the reason this is so wrong.

All I can hope is they come to their senses and drop this whole "Your deck does not validate" thing because this just won't fly for a lot of people.

Anyone who buys cards now knows that eventually down the road those cards will be of very limited use.

Maybe this game can ride on the LOOT being great ... oh wait nvm scratch that?

It's fucking hilarious how simple this dynamic is ... LoN riding on loot .. Loot is downgraded to "not useful" ... Card game must survive on it's own ... Hey great idea! Lets eliminate set 1 and resell part of it back to them! Brilliant!

MTG brought several "Ground Editions" which always had some cards from the older Edition. Take Armaggedon or Seraph Angel.

Beside them they brought out other sets in between, too long ago, don't remember exactly (still got some ten thousands of cards laying around), which had very strong cards in it. Take Black Lotus... 3 whatever mana for 0 costs or 1? long time ago :D. This cards was playable for some time but got restricted later on because it would give older players an immens advantage over newer players.

You could still play with these restricted cards on several "open" tournaments but they don't count for world tournaments.

I agree with everyone that LoN is far away from something like this and even I loved and love to play MTG I never went into LoN. So they shouldn't come up with something like this... or at least make some kind of open tournaments and some Edition based with restricted cards.

The difference between Magic and LoN is that when it comes to physical Magic cards, WOTC runs many types of tournaments, and other places run Legacy and Vintage (T1.5/1 respectively) tournaments as well. In addition, if a card is reprinted in a Standard-legal set, you can use any version of it.

If SOE reprinted cards and the OLD copies aren't legal... that presents a major problem.
