Curious About Pickup Raids for RoK Zones
I'm really curious here .....has anyone ever successfully cleared an RoK zone with a pickup raid? ((Just to be clear, by "pickup raid" i mean less than half the raid consists of a single guild or raid alliance ...basically players who do not usually raid together.))
How are those who choose not to raid completeing their quests that require raid mob kills?

Er?
Say again? LOL. If the quest requires a raid mob kill, and you can't one-group it, well you're going to have to raid for it. At least once!

Re: Curious About Pickup Raids for RoK Zones
Considering the fact that the only RoK quests that I know of that require raid mob kills are the Mythical Epics, the useless Fate of Norrath questline, and a couple of quests in VP, I'd say that nobody who chooses not to raid is completing their quests that require raid mob kills. It's a pretty safe bet that the only ones finishing those quests at the moment are members of Strike, and a few select friends.

Re: Curious About Pickup Raids for RoK Zones
Hehe ...no trick questions here Naggash. It's very straight forward. So those choosing not to raid are just not completing their quests that involve raid mobs ...that's my answer? I guess it makes sense.
I can honestly forsee Forsaken, Vigilance and True Blood completing their mythical weapon quests sometime in the near future.
The reason this came up for me is because when I got my mythical weapon during the very short time I was an active Strike applicant (don't ask ....I got my ass handed to me by a troubador who was just better than me) ...I was approached by a few who knew I was not Strike and asked if I paid them to get it for me and asked how much plat they had to pay or what they had to do to get in with them the same way I did. I was just disgusted at these questions. I've been raiding actively for quite a while now, I know my way around in a raid and know how to do my part in playing up to my responsibiliies as a troubador. The acquisition of my mythical weapon was a side effect of my being good enough for Strike to consider me as an applicant and taking me into these zones to compete at a higher level with the other trouby applicant. It was not easy in any way ....my friends in Strike had no infuence or sway over my position there and I was given a fair and equal shot at the open bard slot. As I said, I got my ass handed to me by my competition, but I walk away from the experience as a better gamer and better troubador for it. I resent anyone accusing me of paying for, cybering for or cheating for my weapon. Hence the question ....if you're not a hardcore or moderate raider, why do you feel you deserve your mythical weapon? How do you intend to aquire it if you do not choose to raid on a regular basis?
Has anyone actually successfully cleared a RoK raid zone with a pickup raid? Does it work?

Re: Curious About Pickup Raids for RoK Zones
Although I'm not directly answering your question because I don't know, I could see a pickup raid clearing PR. Pawbuster and Thuuga would be a little tougher and maybe doable, but probably not. As far as getting mythical updates, no way in hell. A pickup raid wouldn't be able to kill VS.

Re: Curious About Pickup Raids for RoK Zones
As far people getting their mythical weapons and are not active raiders. I have read/heard rumors of guilds selling (for plat or in some cases real money) mythical updates. I can completely understand anyone's desire to get these items, but at the same time, knowing the time and effort it took to get to where, we as a guild, could complete the mythical quest lines, I personally would be offended by offers of plat for a person's mythical.
The mythical version of the epics was intended from the start to be a "raid" weapon, and as such, if you haven't put the effort or time into the required raids, you do not deserve the raid (mythical) reward. In my opinion, selling these updates will (at least for me) quickly devalue any sense of accomplishment you get from gaining them.
Please understand that I am only speaking for myself and not others in my guild, although a poll run on our website on this issue seems to indicate that most of the folks in Strike do not want to see these updates sold (at least not any time soon) for the same reasons I have already mentioned.
A couple last side notes to Furies that want their mythical. If/when you kill your last raid target (Druushk in VP) and you hope to see your name pop up in the server announcement, don't be too disappointed but your going to have to leave VP, go into a solo instance and kill Orinox (lvl84ish herioc druid) - not an easy encounter btw unless they nerfed it. Also, the Fury mythical is a pretty nice DPS weapon but SOE seems to have forgot we are also healers and really borked all the effects except one (clicky bonus to an allies heals based on our dps). So unless they change it, I wouldn't be too upset if you don't get it.
Safe journeys.

Re: Curious About Pickup Raids for RoK Zones
No offense but ultimately this thread is just an attention call because somebody in game *might*, and I say might because the n#1 rule of a MMO is screenshots or it didn't happen, have offended you by implications on how you got your mythical weapon~.
Personally for somebody who seems to portray herself as so sure of her skills as a player I fail to see the need to vent how you got it~.
People go after the tag and always will. Weapon has a purple Mythical tag, of course every single person in the entire server is going to want it. They don't need to feel that they deserve it. Duh~.

Re: Curious About Pickup Raids for RoK Zones
Point taken Karel. Venting about negitive reactions is completely irrelevent, I was just suprised more than anything else. This is not a vent or a flame thread really ...it's more of a question that I am interested in seeing opinions on. Maybe I should word it differently. Let's try this:
Are there any players out there who are striving to complete their quests that require raid mob kills who are not active raiders and how do you plan to achieve that goal?
Will guilds such as Strike, Forsaken, Vigilance or True Blood allow players who choose not to raid to sit in on their raids for their updates?
I still have not heard of one successful pickup raid for RoK. Does this mean there haven't been any yet? Again, just curious.
