Dark Prophecy Recruiting
Dark Prophecy one of the oldest raid guilds on the server, is looking to add a few key members to our raid force. We have T1 raids on farm status and are currently working on the Venril Sathir.
We are looking for the following class(es): - Shaman
- Bard
- Fury/Warden
- High DPSers will be considered on case by case basis
- Our raids run
- Wednesday Night from 8:00 PM EST
- Saturdays and Sundays From 3:PM EST
Applicants are expected to be able to attend at least 2 raids a week, be willing to learn, and most importantly have fun.
If you are interested please feel free to contact any of our members.

Re: Dark Prophecy Recruiting
Is it normal for your guild to send out unsolicited in-game mail to GUILDED players on your server like so many plat sellers? Did you just go down the list of player on EQ2 players or did you target specific guilds?
*edited cause i didnt proof it before submitting

I've had that happen a couple of times over the years. I suppose you could get upset about it (anyone can get upset about anything I suppose), but personally I don't see it as rude or presumptious to "ask". But that's just me.
Given that LDL doesn't have much in the way of free, viable raiders at end game, it should be understandable that those in raiding guild might attempt to recruit out of other guilds.
My comments do make the assumption that the whole "spam like plat sellers" comment is a bit exagerated and the presumed "offenders" didn't just dump a list of all level 80 toons in a class and go at it.

Re: Dark Prophecy Recruiting
I have to admit, I was a little put off by it this weekend. It just seemed contrary to DP's reputation on LDL.
Our guild is stocked up, we get along well, and maybe I'm just overly loyal/defensive.

Re: Dark Prophecy Recruiting
Know Remorse runs its own raids, and gears its own members, and would appreciate you not trying to recruit from our ranks, actively, or via mail.
Personally, I find it pretty low to actively recruit from other raid guilds - if the people come to you, it's one thing, if you're going searching for them, that's an entirely different scenario.

Re: Dark Prophecy Recruiting
Without knowing what the comment was, someone might have mentioned you in passing and sparked the interest of a recruiter to talk to you. I wouldn't get too offended, take it as a compliment and shrug it off. I doubt Dark Prophecy is out to recruit your whole guild but people are allowed to inquire if someone else is looking for a new guild, for whatever reason.

Re: Dark Prophecy Recruiting
its pretty simple really ... player A amasses a certain reputation as a highly skilled player at whatever class they chose, naturally raid guilds will inquire about them. poaching is part of the game, especially on a server where raid quality players are in short supply. Take it as a compliment if you are the player, and take it as a lolz for the guild that has that player.

Re: Dark Prophecy Recruiting
This reminds me off those people that call me at work now and then to anounce that a competitor has a job opening and if i would be interested to learn more. I politely tell them to fuck off.
If i wasn't happy where i worked i wouldn't be working there.
I guess this 'manhunting' is standard business practice now so I don't see why it wouldn't be applied here. Personally, i think it's pretty shady but i wouldn't get too worked up about it.

Re: Dark Prophecy Recruiting
When I got mine I just figured they were spamming my guild, because everyone can see the buzzards circling. I didn't think they'd actually spam real live guilds. Like school in summer, man . . .
Some hints for future mass mailings:
1) Be honest. Skip the "your name came up in a conversation" bullshit and open with "we did a /who all bard".
2) Offer incentives to switch. Plat, masters--those are boring. Be creative! How about cash? Some guilds pay for server transfers, why not pay someone to "guild transfer"?
3) List the zones you've cleared. See the fury recruiting thread for more info on this topic.
4) Close with something actionable. Don't leave it up to the prospect to get back to you, set a date for a callback and stick to it!
Hope that helps, and good luck recruiting!
