    necro as main soul is probably the fastest way for solo lvling because it kills fast and has no downtimes (using the "scoutpet")

    They are still pretty weak. The charge drain they have for the amount of damage they do is ridiculous. There is no point in using them over Soul Purge which has many more benefits. Mass Grave is a 5 minute CD and i still wouldnt find it worth going more then 35pts into necro even if it summoned 3 rogue pets.

    Necro is definitely the fastest leveler of the mages but once you get away from solo PvE you begin to notice how low their damage really is.

    they deal really good damage for me... (bout 30% more damage then soulburn per tic) and its not channeling so you can cast other stuff while its running

    ...soul purge has other advantages

    Uh they auto attack for 100-150 each x5, they also trigger health proc and snare. Most of all, unlike soul purge its not channeled so i can cast other spells. The way most + damage talents work now is its the more points in the line the more damage. For the necro talent its pet damage. So while those last 16 i put into necro line may not be by themselves the best place to put them, the 1% pet damage per point spent makes them better then spending the talents in other tree's.

    They definitely do not melee for 100-150. They were hitting for 70 max at lvl 50. I never really realized they could trigger Essence Link tho. Add in the fact that unless you use exhume they are a 3 second cast, and if you dont have aggro when you use them, the shits rearrange themself and they pause doing damage for how long it takes them to move to the rear of the mob. With 100% charge you get like 10 seconds max of 70 dmg hits not counting for the massive amount of times they miss or get blocked in PvP. Soul Purge on the other hand keeps you and your pet alive if they focus it, you can get 2 channeled durations from it and it hits for like 300dmg every 2 seconds not counting crits and doesnt have any Line of Sight checks after its started. What else are you really casting anyways? The dots that are a waste of GCD and Plague Bolt with its 2 second cast that does less then 1 tick of Soul Purge? Only dot you should be casting is the one required to give the rogue pet 100% crit. Plague Bolt is also pretty bad so i use the AoE that gives 5 stacks of Deathly Calling to the mobs standing in it while using a 1.5 sec cast Warlock Bolt as my main damage.

    As for spenting more useless points into the Necro tree for the increased pet damage. Use those points in the Warlock tree for more damage since your always out parsing your pet anyways and just makes Soul Purge that much more deadly. Btw, the 70dmg hits from the dumbfire was with 51pts spent in Necro.

    The optimal build is going Warlock as your main role. I usually end up with something like 35 Lock 31 Necro. Warlock has the 25% charge bonus, 10% chance for instant cast proc, 25% damage increase to all spells and 40% to dots. Not to mention the 50% hp increase for 20 seconds + Nedras.

    Uh, i can reproduce any results you wish to see on training dummies in meridian. If yours were really only doing 70 damage maybe you had low INT from gear ? The only thing that effects pet damage is INT from gear and what buffs They receive. Dont get me wrong Soul purge is good, for spiking someone down or for DPS purposes Empty the Crypts is better.

    I've used the same training dummies, 72 was the max hit at 500+ INT with 51pts. My 35 beta character with full blue/purple gear with Crypts wasnt putting up more then 40dmg a hit. Screen imo.

    Hmm you got 500+ int from gear? Cause again only gear counts. This is with me at 450ish int from gear(547 total). 51 necro.


    Can we just go back to accepting what i say as fact now? Oh and they last 16-17 seconds with full charge FYI.
