Yea healing is definitely not bad for chloro, maybe some issues long term on that fight (still not bad to keep health up though which is the real goal anyways), but its pretty clear atm that chloros are the best main tank healers in the game, and also have low dps, infinite mana, and solid groupwide healing too aside from being fairly simple to master the spell rotations. Clerics are kinda behind tbh :P

    It's definitely the player.
That fight is really not that hard to dps on since you can watch his castbar, and turn in the last second.
I solo healed DD yesterday as a chloro so 75 HPS is weak.

To be honest, it sounds like the majority of your group were retards, not just the chloro. Chloro's are the best healers in game for dungeons atm. Our chloro has parsed up to 1400 hps, and for dps usually does maybe 300 or so, 350 with raid buffs.

It sounds like your warrior had his parser set incorrectly and it skewed the dps numbers. In the encounter if you wipe you can be stuck in combat for a while because of the rift.

For dps numbers, I'd say 550 is a min for any dps. I use this as a benchmark for all the dps checks. If we're bringing someone who's undergeared, then if I can make-up the difference between the other dps' dps and 550 then we'll be successful. Hell, as a bard I parse 400. Chloro's usually come in at 200-350 depending on gear. Some warriors spec for dps, and I've seen some hit 450 but I believe it's mostly aoe. There is no way that a warrior should outdps a chloro given that they have to kite the boss for most of the encounter.

Given that the encounter is a dps check, the issue is not the chloro though. You failed because of the dps. Showing low dps from your chloro is like showing low dps from a cleric and saying you wiped on a dps check because your cleric wasn't dpsing. Sure you need to hit to do damage, but if the hps is there then that's not the issue.

I thought the parse was wierd as well but my heal per second on a fight where the tank isn't taking massive damage was almost 400. This tells me that the parse wasn't getting extended or my cleric heals are so awesomesauce I could solo heal Greenscale.

Even if his parse is off by a little bit you are seeing our two dps over 350 (I forget the actual numbers which is why I used 350 as my "greater then" number) and the choloro in double digit for heals and damage. I can parse double digits on both by letting my puppy roll his face across the keyboard. We weren't dying to anything other then people being stupid a couple of times so I was pretty sure the chloro should have been pumping out more damage.

Iskiab, let me get your stance here right - Chloro's should be parsing double digit damage and healing numbers?

I just want to make sure as, like I have said all thread, it seemed fishy to me but I don't know shit about chloro's.

This game is heavily gear dependant. For example, all the Druids in my guild have all their attacks macroed into one button. The difference between cleric's parsing is huge, and it's not because one person can hit the button faster, it's because one character has a lot better gear. It's been my experience that things like dps is 40% gear, 40% spec and 20% player... being generous to the player portion.

A geared chloro can double the hps of a non-geared chloro ... so it's hard to set a benchmark.

I'll just say the least I've seen a chloro hit is 200 and the most is 350. With that being said, your warrior's parser was most likely off.

At the end of the day, if you failed the dps check then look no further then the dps. End of story. The warrior probably singled out the pug chloro because... they're a pug. However, it's the dps that failed and deserve all the blame. That's what they're for, dps... and it's called a dps check, so the dps' in your group failed. You don't blame the dps when the tank drops mid battle, and you don't blame the healers when you fail a dps check.

Pretty sure the job of the Chloro is both DPS and Heals right? My expectations is that a Chloro in the group will be doing a decent amount of DPS. To be less then the tank under the same circumstances is suspect. If the parser is off then it's off the same way for everyone. As I said, he had me pulling close to 400 heal per second. That's fairly standard for me in a dungeon as parsers don't count overheal.

Are you saying that my expectation of Chloro doing both damage and healing is wrong? I'm trying to understand the point.

Not going to answer for Iskiab, but if you're expecting a Chloro to sustain DPS numbers similar to dedicated DPS then yes, you're wrong.

If you're expecting 1/3 normal pug dps, plus the ability to main heal, then you're correct.

Again, the chloro was bad and/or the parser was incorrect, but what I think Iskiab is saying is that the failures were the DPS' fault, not heals.

If we use 550 as the benchmark for DPS, the group should reach 1650 DPS before you consider tanks and healers. Your group had an off healer, who apparently slurped like Lohan for crack, so your expected DPS should have been 1100 + tank & heals.

My experience has been that clerics put out negligible DPS while main healing, and a good chloro is around 300 (say 250 as a benchmark).

Tanks I have been with come in around similar numbers to the chloro, although that specific fight the kiting and scripts would damage melee output.

Given that, let's say that your group wide is hitting 1650 on a good day.

That might be enough for the specific fight, but I know there are fights it doesn't cut it on, and that would be below what I see zone wide in all successful pugs by 200 or more.

If your group was not hitting that mark by a wide margin, then it's far more likely the fault of the DPS.

TL;DR: Chloro should've been DPS instead (and used /dontsuck)
Admit it. You only came back to Atlanta for the hat.

We wiped with 5% left several times so it wasn't "A wide margain". Mostly I am attempting to understand everyone's roles as I don't run with a chloro that often, normally I use a bard for half the boss fights and solo heal the rest.

Ah OK, that's the misunderstanding then.

A Chloro is a main healer. The strongest pve healer actually, weakest pvp healer. They heal by doing damage, but I've failed some dps checks when we brought (somewhat intentionally) another undergeared dps and never once did I look at the chloro's dps parse.

We have a chloro who solo heals all the T2s, including DSM. They are a pure healer soul, just like purifier, sentinel and warden.

So what you are saying is I should be going with my Inq/Just mix for some added deeps and off heals when we have a chloro?

One of our guild mages is starting to get into Chloro after being deeps for forever as our bard started picking up tanking. Any tips on how he should spec and what he should be doing? He solo healed trash in xKB yesterday (the T1 daily we did for the free plaques) but had serious issues keeping the tank up on boss fights.
