Monk Tank Nexona

Fact.

Last night our wonderfully talented monk, Wymsical took a deep breath and tanked the fuck outta nexona! w00t Wymsical.

Figured i'd post here to give her some praise and to give you guys something to try/be proud of.

Next time your RL tells you that you can't tank shit, tell em to grow a pair.

Has anyone else tanked Nex? or other of the heavier hittin VP mobs?

If you have ppl who know how to play then there is no reason for monks not to be able to tank. Tanked Nex numerous times (when she actually hit like a bitch too) aswell as other shit in there, Phara etc, tanked AOH/Tranq numerous times. Aslong as you have the gear/healers your fine.

It's nothing new, the monks at the high end of the game have always been fine when it comes to tanking when they need too, it's only the crappy geared/in-expirenced ones that have the issues.

And I guess the large gap in gear from T1 to VP for Brawlers isn't the bigger issue.

It's not hard to hold aggro on a mob. It's not hard to know when to use some defensive abilities. What is hard is trying to tank Nex with nothing more then Jugger gear since there isn't much in line of gear for Brawlers till VP. Sorry but I know how to tank, but if I tried Nex in my gear skill would have nothing to do with it.

Simple truth is Monks tanking Nex are doing it in VP gear. Since my guild is just getting into VP I don't see any of our Brawlers doing it any time soon. But oddly enough our Guardian can tank him in his Pre-VP gear. You make is sound like any Monk who can't tank Nex just sucks but the truth is you VP gear carries you more then your skill.

The best tanking left side comes from the lower tier zones, juggernaut hat, shoulders and bp. He also said the crappy geared if you didn't notice. Obviously if you have access to any sort of gear you can stay alive easier. But you could give a bad player the best gear and they would have a hell of a time tanking the harder mobs.

Juggy set is sufficient for tanking Nexxona. It is a very nice tank gear set anyway. In truth the mythical is what makes a key improvement for tanking. Other VP gear is more focused on DPS than anything really. Most gaurds tank Nexx with buckler spec anyway. Trick is the same as any other VP mob. Debuff. The VP armor is decent but in truth you can tank Nexx w/o it if healers and debuffers are doing what they should. Just have em turn off the TV and pay attention.

I didn't say the Juggy gear sucked. I have the hat and shoulders (and a few others) just haven't gotten my BP.

While I haven't tried tanking Nex I don't think I would be able to TBH. Self buffed I sit at 3750mit and 72% avoidance.

When you tanked it what were you wearing?

When you tanked it what were you wearing?

First time i tanked it was early expac when i didnt have the gear i have now with exception to the t7 avatar robe and tranquil stone i had nothing else that you would class as "uba" gear. It wasnt uncommon around that time for the tank to randomly get one shotted, and before you say it no i dont mean i tanked it for the 12secs tsunami was up. Also note this was pre-mythical too.

Trumak would have been in the same situation except he has T7 Avatar boots iirc.
