Default Pitiful excuse for a Monk

I have read the threads in this forum on AA Specs for DPS, a few CA order suggestions and so forth. However, I still seem to be the Scooty Puff Jr. of Monks. I am looking for some advice and feedback (based on my stats, gear, CA order, etc) on why I seem to be such a loser monk. I was in a Vaults group this morning and I tracked my DPS using ACT. Group set up: Monk (me), Illusionist, Templar, Paladin, Wizard (just 5 of us). In total, I seemed to hover around 1k+ for the entire zone (See ACT output at http://www.colossusproject.com/images/gimpy.PNG). I used Dev Fist twice just to hasten the death of the mob so pay no attention to that junk.

My Brawler achievment allocation is as follows:

agi: 4, 8, 8
wis: 5,4,5,8,1
int: 4,4,8,7,1

My monk achievements are as follows:
Horse kick: 5
Heal: 5
Rising Phoenix: 5
Body Like Mountain: 5
Rising Dragon: 5
Sprint: 5
Will of the Wise I: 1
Will of the Wise II: 1
Morning Star: 5
Frozen Palm: 5
Five Rings: 3
Tsunami: 5
Biting Cobra: 1
Superior Riposte: 1
Combination: 1

Stats:

Str: 756
Agi: 531
Sta: 669
Int: 177
Wis: 400

Off Stance Melee Bonuses:

DPS Mod 17
Melee Crit: 34%
Melee DA: 1%
Haste Mode: 119
Ranged Crit: 1%

My equipment is a mix of legendary and fabled with the exception of Charm, Ranged, off-hand, and Ammo slots

Primary Hand: Fabled Hand of Serenity
Off-hand: Blessed Mahogany Club
Head: Sathaz's Dou Li
Cloak: Cloak of Piety
Chest: Gi of the Jarsath SwiftTail
Shouders: Unailing Shoulder Pads of Zeng'Tcho
Forearms: Jarsatch Wristguards
Hands: Juggernaut Gloves
Waist: Wurm Hide Cincture
Legs: Traknasaurus Skin Leggings
Feet: Boots of Foi'zarth
Neck: Unglued Alchemist's Amulet
Right Ear: Stud of Syllokk's devoted
Left Ear: Sarnak Earrign of Station
Left Ring: Ring of Station
Right Ring: Quarrymaster's Signet
Right Wrist: Tynnonium Shackle
Left Wrist: Rune Covered Wristband
Charm 1: Danak Wishbone
Charm 2: Riliss Chicken Foot
Ammo: Pristine Dragonhide Leather Sack
Ranged: Ancient Pouch of the Iron-heart

I am all AD3 except for Mindful. I currently have Swiftcalm M1 which is better (seemingly anyway) than Mindful AD3.

I have the following masters:

- M2: Velium Palm
- M1: Rising Phoenix
- M1: Stance: Flow Like Wind

Current CA Order:

Lightning Palm
Baton Flurry
-Crane Flock (when up)
Morning Star
Horse Kick
Velium Palm
-Combination (when up)
Rising Phoenix
Stifling Palm
Rising Dragon
Biting Cobra
Five Rings
Velium Talon
Tackling Cougar
Bayle's Strike
Eagle Spin
Dragonfire

I know that I need more masters but they are seemingly hard to come by (not one Monk master drop in any instance or farming group so far) and needless to say the cost of buying the two M1s on the broker has all but bankrupted me (the banks of Norrath need a loan department!).

In any case, I would like to get myself speced/configured so that my DPS is not so horrible in groups or raids. Currently, I am rarely slotted for a spot in Guild raids becuase the perception (and reality) of my DPS is so poor. Any help and constructive guidance other than "quit the game" or "delete your monk and roll a bruiser", would be greatly appreciated.

Well I am at work and dont really remember the delay on the blessed mahogany club, but my first question would be does your two weapons have the same delay? If not that is one thing that will screw you up. Secondly are you timing your CA's between your autoattacks? Autoattack accounts for about 80% of my DPS on zonewides, so every autoattack that you interrupt drops your DPS significantly. The other thing I saw is that you put 5 points into sprint? While that MIGHT be useful to get around it does zero for your DPS. I would have Five Rings at 5 since it does the most dps out of your CAs, atleast in my experience it does but i also have it as a M2 choice. The CA timing is the most important part though. Look at your casting time on CA's and look at your delay. You should be able to figure out exactly how many CA's you can fit between your autoattacks, then just time it out. The wall in JW is a good place to practice, but personally I use ACT to alert me of when i have autoattack or attempted to then i know once i hear that alert that i can hit so many CAs before i need to wait to hear it again. There are threads on how to do that here as well.

among other things, your crit is too low and you are missing a dps mod adornment

Use a mastercrafted STR ring for dps proc. Get more crit gear. Get rid of the 5 points in sprint. Max out 5 rings, it is our highest dps ca. Get rid of comination endline, it is worthless. Check out my spec in the sticky aa specs.

Also your ca order is a bit fucked up. I always precast Lightening Palm, open up with Rising Dragon. It never misses and it's good to get it on fast cuz the dot is a long duration. Then biting cobra to get some defense debuffed, 5 Rings (our highest dps ca), then I go our quick recast ca's followed by the longer ones and then hit whatever pops up afterwards.

Also since dragonfire is a dot you want to cast that earlier definitely not last.

Timing your auto attacks will help as well. I personally just watch the numbers over the mobs head and use that as my guide but you can program act to trigger when you auto attack as previously stated.

Kacil - Thanks. The Sprint is a left-over from my "Run and Flop through zones" days. I need to reallocate that as you have suggested. As far as my CAs, I probably am interrupting auto-attack as I usually spam my CAs. I have read a few threads concerning Spamming CAs vs. Timing. I have tried timing CA vs. Auto but I cannot seem to get it right. I will try your tip of using ACT to alert of auto-attacks (nice tip). I will also search for a better off-hand that matches closer to my fabled. I have been trying to get hold of Doomcoil's Baton, but hard to do when not being slotted for raids (maybe in September).

Somedudecro - Good point. The DPS Mod adornments that I do have are as follows:

- Smoldering Judicious Clasp (+12 DPS)
- Smoldering Spry Buckle (not really DPS, but +3 attack speed)

Which DPS MOD Adornments would you recommend?

Trumak - Great tips! Thanks!

This is great feedback so far. Much appreciated.

Get the Smoldering Judicious Easyloader for your range weapon. The +12 DPS from that is really nice.

Ok let me see here. Really I have 2 sets of gear I have my DPS/raid gear ((although only been a couple of raids as of late rl work is hell to me)) and tank gear.

Really if its a easy zone like voes i usually stay in almost all my dps gear if i am tanking .

Cloak Marr or Zek if you exile untill you get a raid cloak or re2 cloak.

Rings
Str ring
Thuuga

Earrings
Droag talon plugs
Sarnak jade ((both are quested rewards))
Boar toothe bauble from re2 and anaxfen is great upgrades

Neck
Ganaks torque
Bloodthirsty is also good if you have a good healer

Wrist
The reward from veeshean feast final reward is good
Scout wrist from re2

Legs
Firefury leggings

Gloves
Sebelite scale gloves are a dps upgrade

Mc bracers are about the best thing for dps till you get some good ones from raiding

those are all dps upgrades from what i can see

Also on brawler aa line i woul go 4 4 8 6 2 wis the proc hits hard and can not only hit on auttoattacks but ca's also would take 5 rings for my m2 unless i have the m1

but all of the stuff is stuff that you can get though non raids and most is easy to get.

Good advice so far. Make sure your off hand is a 2.5 delay. Also drop the last two choices in your int line and put it into crane twirl and whatever else you can.
