Monk Raiding in TSO
It may have been covered but I do not seem to find the direct answer I am looking for so here it goes:
1. How many high end raid guilds are using Monks in TSO?
2. Are there certain TSO mobs to be involved with instead of others?
3. What is your ability/role to be affective and how far along is your guild progressing?
Our Guild has decided that NO brawler is worth having in TSO raids. I can tell you that we are the best guild on our server, however, due to PVP we are not allowed to state our progression but I can tell you I have a 5 set from TSO, mostly because I have been in the guild for over 2 1/2 years and earned my DKP/attendance.
I would love to hear your thoughts please, because I believe we still have a place in TSO raids. I understand the dynamics and group set ups but what's working or not working for your Monk in TSO?

Why you'd not have either brawler, i dont understand ... hell we run with one of each sometimes. Great raidwide buff, great tankability, great DPS ... very versatile.

If you are using ACT on the raids and you are putting your avoidance buff on the main tank, take a look at the avoidance report. It will show how much you are deflecting for the MT as well as avoiding for them.
We have other utility for raids, however, I think this is probably the most pertinent.

Re: Monk Raiding in TSO
It's good to have a monk in raid.
We have uber raidwide. It's +5 accuracy and haste/casting speed haste. It boosts raid wide dps significantly.
We can tank. Haven't you heard that we have tanked avatars? If healers can't keep you up, they suck. Ask guild leader kick them out and get competent healers rather than sit monk out of raid.
We can dps. Our dps is too good that even guardian can't beat us with shield. They have to DW to beat us in parse. See, how can you complain we can't dps?
We can group FD when raid is going to wipe. Everyone is so happy to group with a monk for saving repair bill. Tell raid leader, he will be rich soon if there is a monk in his group in raid.
There are just too many good reasons of why you want a monk in raids. I can't post anymore, otherwise, we will get nerfed because jealous from other classes!

Re: Monk Raiding in TSO
Thanks guys. I would like to hear even more from those who are as successful as Couch's guild progression. I appreciate the others input as well but I specificaly said, "High end" raid guilds because I want to know if you (monks) are raiding against the most high end nameds in TSO, whuch kills have you been in on?

Re: Monk Raiding in TSO
Your guild is correct, there is no reason to have a brawler in raid. I am absolutely essential for our guilds first few kills because a monk really does a great job in raid survivablility. After that when shits on lock down and things get easier our role becomes DPS which is easily replaced by an actual dps class.
That said there are some mobs where a monk really shines, for example Anashti, Health, Tranq.

Re: Monk Raiding in TSO
Can't claim being in a high-end raid guild per se, but we're getting Tombs cleared, Palace up to Anashti and seeing how they fixed Zarrakon, I hope we'll get him today.
So, we could be doing worse.
Arguments for bringing a monk to a raid:
1: We offer survivability to the MT (or OT, as necessary).
2: We can tank when we need to (and if you can't, tell healers to wake up - having the Monk-specific AA in the tSO tree for tanking as well as Aversion helps a great deal, too).
3: Raidwide buff increases DPS output - and healers in the raid (in my case at least) tend to complain when they do not have it.
4: There's gear in the game no one else can use anyway. Might as well have a brawler around to use it.
5: We do DPS. Beats having an empty spot in the raid.
That's about it, really.
