New Raiding monk need some advice
Ok new raiding monk here needing some advice on CA timing etc, Im currently only parsing 1.7 with adept 3 or better skills. I was told my problem is not with my gear or aa its with my ca timing, I use a macro I mash with all my ca's on it lined up for pvp so my knockbacks, stuns, stifles are evenly spaced to lay the smack down. works great and if anyone wants the macro set up I use ill post here but currently in class and dont have access to my toon. Really just looking on what ca should i start with in dps on a raid, then how long do I wait before i hit the next etc. I recently just found out that most of the dps comes from autoattacking, like i said im a total noob to raiding and ill admit it. So me using a macro for ca's doesnt allow my autoattack to do anything really. Any help is appreciate. AA set up I found on this site I got for survivability. I'll look for post to link if necessary. Thanks for help

Re: New Raiding monk need some advice
OK the best thing to do is get ACT (Advanced Combat Tracker). Once installed open it up and select the triggers/sounds tab at top. You will now need to add 4 variables. next to where it says custon trigger select beep. Then type "YOU hit" in regular expression box. Finish by clicking the add/edit button, this should add this variable in list. Do the same for the following expressions:
YOU critically hit
YOU miss
YOU try
Basically what this does is give out an auditory trigger everytime you auto attack. I expect if you type /weaponstat then you will be hitting every second or so. Spamming as you have been may help in PvP to keep mob under control but it massively hits your dps. A monk will only get in one ca between swings so you really have to take it easy. To allow ACT to get the information you will need to allow logging in your in game chat window, to do this simply type /log and it should then confirm that it is now active.
We have the odd debuff, master strike and possibly racial debuff ca's so try use these first followed by DoT's and then use the larger hitting ca's first to allow time for them to be usable again before the mob goes down.
I apologise if you already run ACT and I am teaching you to suck eggs but I am just giving as thorough breakdown as possible. Also as a side note if you find on longer fights that you are running out of ca's even now that you are timing. It maybe worth to lose chi and all points in claw reversal and head down the agility line a little, but this is purely down to personal preference.
Hope this helps.

Re: New Raiding monk need some advice
i have my stuns/stifles/knockdowns/dazes all in a row. have my two short recast cas next to each other, the dots and debuffs together since i put them in first... organization and practice may work just as well as far as keeping things stifled for you, and getting away from the macros will greatly improve your dps.
an easy way to time them is to turn off third party combat damage in your options, so the only orange damage numbers you see above combat is your own. try just auto attacking with no cas, until you get the idea, then throw one ca between every auto attack. this is especially easy if you have high double attack mod, since you'll see the words "double attack" popping up in orange as you auto attack.

Its retarded even in pvp, it queues up your CA and causes a delay in when your auto attack will go off, you are fucking stupid.

Re: New Raiding monk need some advice
While yes, Blanka is a jerk, he does have a point. You're crippling yourself by relying on this macro instead of a more discretionary method. It would work if you were, say, a mage whose dps all came from spells or an assassin thats almost entirely CAs instead of Autoattacks, but typically speaking your autoattacks should be doing over half your total damage. I'm not on a PvP server, so I don't know how far behind you are, but I expect any new level 80 in quested gear even without their epic to be hitting at least 2k unless they're a healer--someone in full Adept IIIs that should be significantly higher, and for a raider its pretty poor.

If someone says something stupid like the OP said he's going to get called out on it plain and simple.
