Just want to know if it safe to say that a monk can tank till 80 then going dps for raids? if so what spec for leveling as tank adn then wich one for dps 80 content. As i iwll be groiping and leveling with a group of friends. Thanks for reaplies ahead of time.

Blanka's got more hate than Bin Laden, but i like his AA setups on the first page. And as you start getting gear, you can Tank raids as well as DPS. RoK wise you wont need as much 'gear' but TSO Wise you'll need crit mit and some shit, unless your healers are on point. Figured i'd say that before someone came through with a "U ken tnk n t1 shard geer" and wanted to impress some random viewer.

If you want to tank then roll a plate tank, if you want to dps roll an assassin. I would have to say brawlers are over populated and getting groups is a pain. Some guilds on my server have gone so far as to remove monks from their raid roster all together.

If your question is can they tank yes they can if you have a good group/raid party (no room for slackin with monk), can they dps? not as high as a dps class (A T2 geared assassin will out parse an avatar geared monk no problem)

I'd say for leveling go dps spec, the defensive spec I put on flames is entirely for tanking raid encounters. I only switch to it when soloing really tough stuff, farming shineys, or tanking raid mobs. Also, do not be afraid of going with a hybrid type spec until you are raiding and getting geared, I can't recall one, but there is probably one posted.

I would avoid Hybrid spec's as you will not be great at tanking or dps (descent solo'ing though). Get a mirror and spec one tank and one dps use your gear to get a hybrid solution. Basically you should keep two sets of gear minimum as a monk 1 set tank and 1 set dps and mix and match as needed.

I run a complete dps AA line and just tottaly swap gear for tanking while still in dps AA spec this will work great for all but RAID MT tanking. There is almost a 2000HP / 8% avoid difference just swapping gear around for me.

Thats what I do, but for leveling up this guy is not going to have the gear that someone at 80 might have so going a bit hybrid won't hurt and going all defensive is pretty much not needed on any old content.

qft. The dude was more asking what he should do in the meantime, and while i will admit i apparently sucked in not giving him an idea for AA in the meantime i did give him an idea of the 'end game' AA, becasue in the meantime its also a bit of a personal preference choice for you (str line USED to be what i would tell everyone to do till they had two really good weapons and were 70+).

That was such a crap AA line. Good Legendary or better weapons was more dps then barefisted not to mention AGI, HP, and proc increases..

No offense but that AA line cracked me up it sucked so bad.

Considering how fast leveling is in this game str line was not too bad for that, you saved on weap cost.
