Re: Monk EoF set....
The monk set armor is a joke. I have 5 pieces and most of them have 2 stats with the BP having 3 stats but 10sta and 10agi shouldn't really count as stats since that is like t3 crap. I'm so dissapointed in the set that the ONLY reason I wear it is to show how cool the gi looks. It is really sad that monks get boned in the EoF sets. I was hoping for some gear to put us up there with other classes. As far as monks being useless, that's bs and i agree with cleftan, we have roles and we are useful. However a lot of monks don't know how to play their class so the people that group with them get the impression monks suck. Hopefully people will learn their class and the perception of monks will change.

Quoted for emphasis. I agree completely, the logic behind making them sub-par and leaving them that way boggles my mind.
Can you clarify which EoF mobs you're talking about where our avoidance skills will over -shadow the complete tanking skills of a plate tank? Or our mystical abilities with which we can take/retake aggro from a mem-blurring mob?
I'm not going to vilify your experiences, as you seem to be somewhat accomplished, but my experiences are completely different. The main reasons I get to tank are convenience(four fighters in SD, one might be late) or necessity(four fighters in SD, one might be absent). This isn't because I suck at my class, that's just the way it is. I'm useful only in the fact that I show up and on time, not because I'm a monk.
I should note that I'm tank-specced and, until recently, I was bidding on equipment solely for that purpose.

Werd, can't give a monk the benefit of avoidance when plate tanks sitting at 75% avoidance now as well
Monks are easily replaceable, are a nice utility and tank on a raid, but any other tank class is really going to end up better for a raid in most cases

Re: Monk EoF set....
Monk EoF class set sucks my ass from a functional standpoint. I don't even like the way it looks tbh. Get rid of the suspenders, pull out the wedgie, keep the buckle, and it's money.
I agree that Monks are not useless, no class is useless. The problem Clef is something you do not see because you do not raid w/ a Pali, more than 1 other Zerker, or a Bruiser. All can raise hate sufficiently enough to perform the tasks you mentioned meanwhile bringing more to the raid as a whole which can simply circumvent these "Oh shit" scenerios entirely.
Sure, if we're good at what we do, dedicated, well geared and have a good group setup, we can get the job done. So can every other tank - only better.
We don't own any other tanks in any given category. Not even close.

Re: Monk EoF set....
I must be the only monk here who likes the perception set bonuses. The way i see it, the 5/7 set bonuses are there to counter the negative stats on the off stance, the extra miti/defence/deflection will more or less leave you with a stance that offers almost the same benfits as def stance, with the added haste and ability to actually hit a yellow/orange con mob. For a class that is relying almost 99% on melee hits and 2 taunts to keep agro the ability to stay offensive is a big welcome to me.
Hard to really say how good until some lucky monk manages to get all 7 bits and can show us exactly how the off stance would be modified but I'd guess tanking in off stance should defo become a lot less dangerous. If I was going to complain about anything it would be Focus: Cresent strike .

Re: Monk EoF set....
Just a question : Why more haste on the offensive stance ?
I'm already at 85 haste without using everburning blaze and my gear isn't that great.
Procs, crits, dps mod, skill bonuses, reuse timers... anything would be better than more haste imo...
Having more haste for a 7 pieces bonus is kinda... meh.
(my english sucks btw)

Re: Monk EoF set....
I've noticed that monks are a way to "make life a little easier" in some zones and a real good cheering section in others. My guild has killed several avatars and clears all eof zones. I've sat out on every avatar fight, in MMIS i just simply take a couple minutes of clearing off the menue (if you go for mayong). Sure group fd is good if you wipe in most spots... but then on others where everyone has to die or the mob bugs out... it's meh.
Monks dont suck for sure.
On the topic though. I'd personaly like to get the final 3 pieces i need for the set.. when i do i'll for sure come back and tell how it effects me.
Is the BP really only 10 to 3 stats? thats just like t2 or 3 style... i mean it better give like 500hp / mana for a thumb in the eye like that.
My 2cp.

Haha, so we can suck harder as we sit out on raids?
When I wake up in the morning, I stretch, yawn and thank God I'm not a bruiser.
