Default Newbie question

Monk or Bruiser? I did a search, came up with nothing recent.

I don't want to tank with this class, just dps. I've played WoW a long time and a Monk/Bruiser is very different than any class in WoW. So thats why I wanted to try them.

CAn someone plz give me the pro's and cons to each? I'll be soloing 90% of the time. Also does race matter much in this game?

Last one, Server wise, which would be the best to start on?

Thanks in advance.

Bruiser has better dps potential. Go for bruiser if that's all you care.

For server, I highly recommend you to start on a server with high population such as AB or Crushbone.

The lag on AB or Crushbone is significantly worse than other low population servers but you can get group or guild much easier.

Since when did we start running uncontested avoid through the avoid checks jackass? Are you making up new rules now? Uncontested avoid has ALWAYS been the total added up.

For a server - AB and Crush are best - many players, active zones.

I actually made a human monk and human bruiser togeather a long time ago and played them evenly. Somewhere in the 50s the Monk became much more interesting for me to play and I left my bruiser collecting dust since.

If you plan to do a lot of solo - both classes will get you to lvl 80 with no problems. But seeing that EQ2 is really directed at group content - A monk brings more to a group all the way through ROK. (TSO is different both group and solo). Monk adds avoidance and haste and can heal the MT in a pinch. Bruiser brings a small DPS buff to grp - but thats about it.

Both classes are fun - monk has interesting animations - kung fu kicks, etc.

Some problems you will encounter at higher levels is that many do not see the brawler as a MT and you get judged a lot by your DPS output. At this point of the game, the desirability for a monk in raids is on the lower end.

Have fun and welcome to EQ2 and the world of Brawlers!

Bruiser is probably better. Pick Ogre for race, if you want the best race... but if you just wanna solo.. chances are your race won't matter much.

Starting on Antonia Bayle will net you a high populations and alot of chances to group on... but if you don't want a high population... simply make sure your server doesn't say "Exchange" or "livegamer" after it.... and doesn't say "PvP" unless thats what you are looking for.

Play brawler first and play brawler only. Ignorance is bliss.

If you want to do only dps, do not roll a brawler ^_^ take an assassin or wizard ...
