Soloing is a unique combination of a few specific things. A few might disagree. I don't care.
1) Situational. If these mobs are stunnable/control effect
a) Stun gear. aka Tribunal cloak, gloves from Maidens last mob.
b) Timing your stun CA's or you 6 second silence.
c) Turn off auto attack , Use your fear that lasts for 9 seconds.
It gives you 9 seconds to get your ca's back up. Letting you continue to stun the fuck out of the mob
2) Gear
a)Having a good combination of DPS gear,
b) What i call "Heal/Ward" gear like the ward Necklace from Trakanon. There were a few others but honestly I haven't played in so long it escapes me. And also having good avoidence/mit gear.
EXAMPLE:
3) Honestly its good to have avoidance but don't forget about mit. With the stun getting removed through AA's on our TSO tree you should be using this. Getting hit less when the mob isn't stunned and getting hit for less is equally important.
4) You can come up with strategies to kill named mobs and yellow ^^^ the same way. Experiment.

Re: avoidance
If you have t1 and t2 gear and like no raid gear from how it sounds that neck is unattainable atm ... but there is a earring from a deepforge/ht blue shiney quest that has a ward proc similar thats great.

Re: avoidance
First, dont solo in defense!!! second, turn haste off if soloing!!! Get mythical if you dont have it this is the number 1 piece of gear for a monk!
Objective is to kill mob before he gets through your avoidance, the longer your there the more likely to take damage, defense stance = bad soloing, your dps is so low your gonna be there long enough for him to get through, black widow for soloing or even offense with avoid gear on.
My favorite piece of gear for soloing is
Iron-Plated Utility Belt
Nothing like a 2k self ward that last 1.5 minutes
Earing your refering to is war stud of the prime everdark (collection attainable.
Fast trash killing it is important to turn off the haste solo.

I couldnt aggree more, with mobs having strikethrough you need this more then adding avoid gear if at 80% avoid already, which is why the mythical is so important to monk.

Re: avoidance
I wouldn't agree on turning Everburning off, That's a lot of haste gone, I guess it's debatable pending the mob. Buy loads of heal pots, ( I prefer the heal over time(HoTs) over the large heal) Signets from your city merch, heal and power ones.
If you don't have access to raid gear you can pretty much look in the channels on most servers for pug raids. Until you can get some good weapons I would roll with your epic and a no -trade master crafted weapon(can't think of the name) that stuns the target every so often.

Yes situational, Not for single mob but like I said when grinding through trash. A good example is on the beach of lavastorm stay in offense and start with first mob and run from one to the next (about 15-20 mobs) with it on, then try with it off. I can non stop kill every mob on the beach with it off not with it on. This is because you do not have time to regen any of it back since you are grinding one after another without a break so it will constantly be draining your health.

Damn you beat me to it as i was reading through.
This is true. Haste , DPS, Burning the holly hell out of a mob in the time allowed so you can keep it not hitting you for as long as possible is very good regardless of the hp drop. Hell Until they changed the SoH ring I used it in accordance with everburning so i had it up constantly.
Also, You have to vary your plan of attack. Every fight , every mob isn't the same. I have only been able to defeat mobs in defensive stance before. Going at things in a more defensive, holding back mindset. Some mobs honestly are just unkillable solo. That is usually referred to some yellow named mobs with a devastating special move or attack/ scenario.
I for example Tried repeatedly to kill the guy at the bottom of the fort zone that pawbuster is in*forgot zone name, shoot me). I solo'd him down to red hp 3 times and still couldn't hit the 3 totems fast enough to let me kill him. Some mobs are just too much for you to handle.
Also In accordance to heal over time pots. Cast these before the fight starts. Unload on all your dps spells. NOT YOUR STUNS. then stun the shit out of the mob when the heal pots wear off. Wait to get low. i used to get to below 30% hp, Pop tsunami. Have Eagle Shreak, FUCK alterism. Have like 130 crit, Pop my crane flock and be over 100% crit and devastating double attack. Your dps triples when you do that. Then hit your heal. heal yourself back up to green hp and you get like a do over. If you dont have crane flock , don't worry about it. Do the same stuff just without hitting that.

Re: avoidance
Look at my Tanking AA setup... that and Defensive stance allows me to solo Karnors damn well i might add. If i use Mid stance, i cannot keep up with the damage i take. Whereas with defensive, i can go an entire fight without even getting hit.
Gear makes a huge difference. I have 3 piece t4 and 4 piece T3 armor along with 3% adorn on offhand, and wrists. It makes a huge difference when your uncontested avoidance is high, thats why Defensive owns for soloing green ^^^ mobs.
When im killing solo or ^ mobs, i go full offensive and knock em down as much as you can. I can usually two hit a solo mob in moors now.... but my gear is getting rediculous.
Hope that helps, everyone has different styles... I can pretty much solo even con ^^^s now.

Re: avoidance
Thats what I like to see tell me a zone and a mob and ill try it myself. KC drolvarg guards. Runnin 80% avoid self buffed with DPS AA line. Used no tsunami, bob and weave, or mit buffs just straight pullin.
I did this multiple times and in defense fight always lasted 29s and Black widow always lasted 23s. I took less damage in spider stance due to the 6 s longer fight getting hit 1 extra time. Like everything else in game its like rolling dice I did have one encounter in defense after runnin around for 20 minutes that I was only hit 1 time and 1 fight i was hit 9 times in def.
29s defense stance
TYPE DAMAGE EXT DPS HITS CRITHITS SWINGS TO HIT %
All 5022 173.17 5 0 20 25.00
crush 3282 113.17 0 16 18.75 0%
Raging Blow 1118 38.55 1 0 1 100.00
Rupture 622 21.45 1 0 1 100.00
Berserker Onslaught 0 0.00 0 0 1 0.00
Maul 0 0.00 0 0 1 0.00
23's spider stance
TYPE DAMAGE EXT DPS HITS CRITHITS SWINGS TO HIT %
All 4678 203.39 4 0 11 36.36 0%

Rupture 823 35.78 1 0 1 100.00 0%
Raging Blow 0 0.00 0 0 1 0.00 NaN
I have 4 piece T3 shard gear including chest (bonus +10 riposte), Ill hafta try my tanking AA spec but lazy atm since 80% avoid is attainable by almost everyone.
Whe tsunami comes into play faster is much better, this is damage takin with two at once with tsunami.
TYPE DAMAGE EXT DPS HITS CRITHITS SWINGS TO HIT %
All 3438 85.95 6 0 32 18.75

Berserker Onslaught 0 0.00 0 0 1 0.00
Rupture 0 0.00 0 0 1 0.00
Two only got six hits in before deaded.

Re: avoidance
I pull in Defense stance and precast external calm with Everburning off.
Stun CA 1.5>Stun CA 2.5>Stun Wis AA Crane>Dev Fist - swap to offensive stance pop tsunami, CHI, click Lycan bracelet, , Crane Flock> Bob and Weave, high dmg CA's and dots -- repeat stuns if needed - pop heal ---done
Never use potions - I used to use int endline ability, for soloing like Traxor said, but I dropped that even in my mirror spec.
