Re: Monk DPS
yea SoD is really shyte unless you have medocre weapons too begin with and you have a dirge in group. then its pretty good but still TBH i think that FOB + greater twin or maul of wardens fist are better (depending on situation/group setup)
ed: what i would do is 2h the wurmy and scratch altruism. the ability is really worthless and since the only thing a monk brings too raid otherwise is sub par DPS you may as well spec too enhance it where you can. with wurmy you are gonna have a great 2h so i would say spec int/wis too the bottom. gives you the best solo/raid dps setup i have found for a monk, and with the next LU crane flock gets 2 minutes off its recast timer, which is gonna really own.
as for CAs, i only really use like 5 or so in raid (silencing palm, both stuns, the daze, the one that takes health, and flailing cent) unless im using a 2h with a nice delay because my haste is high enough that using any others just decreases my DPS. why you may ask? mm well an average swing from the FoB hits for more than most of those other combat arts anyway and i have 128 haste in offensive. and if i get a dirge in group that drops too probably 4 CAs. bruisers got the long end of the stick on CAs i can tell ya that hehe

Currently I am using the Sceptor of Destruction and Fist of Pain both of which have fast recovery. I am about to finish up Wurmslayer HQ and Claymore so that might help a little. I've only been raiding about 6 weeks now and am still sucking in the dps department, so any tips would help.
I have mostly KoS fabled gear and no fabled jewelry yet so my str is obviously a little low. I also have Altruism (at the requests of my MT and GL). All of which may be the reason I am having a hard time. I guess what I'm actually curious about is CA setup (ie order in which to use) for optimal effect in raid. And any other tidbits that might be useful for a new raiding monk.
Also, what are your auto attacks hitting for on average?

It works, and it also helps to have 2 weaps with the same delay

Re: Monk DPS
Thx for the tips guys. I'll give it a whirl. Our bruiser is pretty set for weapons atm so hopefully I grab the next weapon or two that drops. However, I guess we will all be looking for different weapons after the next update.

Re: Monk DPS
The auto attack/CA thing worked, just took a little practice. I got my razor gauntlets about a week ago and should at the least get the wurmslayer for my offhand this week (as long as I convince my GL to do a labs run). Thanks again to anyone that posted to help me out.

Go Razor Gaunts and SoD reward or that one from that x2 crab for 2 with the 2.5 delay till you get one of those sweet contested ones. Also, with this whole 1 hander change probably everythings gunna change as to whats best to duel wield. When raiding see if they will get you in a group where you can get your dps over 100 and you will really see your dps shoot up.

Re: Monk DPS
ooh god yea 100DPS mod raids are nuts. the guild i raid with isnt the best around by any means, and they know im fucking rock solid at my class, so if they are running with plenty of melee buffers i have done raids where i just auto attacked the entire thing because of 200 haste + dps mod at peak ( agitate + berzerk + CoB + str ring). kinda sucks though when you think about it, shows just how shitty our combat arts are lol

Re: Monk DPS
So, what are typical monks across servers hitting on dps parsers. Before anyone says it, i know monks don't get to raid much. But i need something to aim for beating, since all i have now to try to beat are scouts.

Re: Monk DPS
i consider a good zonewide on an average raid w/o a dirge 1kish with moderate gear. when i was raiding steady on my monk i could get 1300-1500 zonewides NP and that was literally JUST after i hit 70 so i was still learning the class and had shit for gear (my 2h i used for craneflock was grizfazzles greatstaff). note these were in zones where having multiple mobs in an encounter was commonplace (labs, lyceum, hos, DT). never really got into EoF much since it had just come out and our guild was recruiting after splitting an alliance

Re: Monk DPS
I just started raiding about 2 1/2 months ago (was lucky to get into a guild that was in a rebuilding process). I started out parsing horribly, I'm talking like 600 zw. Now that I have some experience (and plenty of tips from other monks) I am hitting right around what Faxon said in a normal (shitty) grp setting. Give me a dirge or even a troub and it goes up quite a bit just like he said. I'm still not hitting the 1500 mark, but I am also still gearing up. Imo, its 70% player ability and 30% gear (but that could be an excuse I tell myself lol). My advice is ask questions here and and in game, even if you feel stupid for asking. I got alot of good tips from my guild's bruiser as well.
