Well, it was meant to be what stats a monk could use, and I was working on gear info, showing what pieces give what stats, what adorns give stats, etc.

As for character choices, mm, yeah, I'll go over that. Hadn't thought about that.

I've just been going off what I already knew, EQ2I, EQ2Wire, patch notes and whatever else I could find.

I'll leave this thread as a testiment to my fail and get back to work.

I would agree that your post is weak, but it can be imporved. By the time ppl make it to this form they should know how the game works, so everything you post about str/sta and other stats is crap. if they dont know what that does for them before they come here theres no hope for them. start with simple things like "How to use Combination AA to its full benfit" then explain how you need to have a casting order for this and blah blah blah. Pros/Cons of using DW and/or 2HD. When should you use your "oh shits" skills and when should you not use them b/c they arent going to do what you think, like yes the skill says absore next attack but it wont work on...b/c... the guide you should be trying to make is the guide that old or new players can come to for information that may help their game.

I don't get why this is stickied. It's not useful information at all.

    Base Stats

A monk has 2 main "green stats": Strength and Stamina. They are found on all "fighter" items and can also come from racial bonuses, food, drink, potions, procs and buffs.

Strength governs a monks power pool and how hard they hit with their auto attacks.
Stamina governs a monks health pool. The current converation is something like 1 point of stamina to 10 points of health.

    Neither of these are capped.

    Green Skills

Green skills refer to weapon skills and resistances on weapons and items. The cap on these increases as you level, and they can be skilled up to a cap, for example, using two slashing weapons and attacking an epic training dummy for ages will improve your skill with slashing weapons.

Aggression: improves your taunts chance to hit and how well mobs can resist your taunts.
Crushing: improves your chance to hit with crushing weapons, such as bo staffs, fists and hammers. Crushing does not effect fists.
Fists: Monks automatically will have this capped anyway. This governs your to-hit when not using any weapons at all (such as when disarmed)
Focus: This decreases your chance of being interupted while casting a spell. This generally doesn't affect monks, as the only spell they can cast is the call to home spell.
Ranged: improves your ranged weapons chance to hit, such as pouches.
Slashing: improves your chance to hit with slashing weapons, such as katars.

Crushing, slashing, ranged and piercing skills are all found on weapons as +weapon skills. Being over the cap for weapon skills gives a higher minimum damage rating and an increase to riposte damage.

There are also avoidance skills I will go into detail later.

Defence: This increases your chance to avoid being hit by a melee weapon and is the base avoidence stat for all fighters.
Deflection: A brawler only stat, it gives a chance to avoid being hit, but runs off a diffrent dismishing curve.
Parry: This is an all fighter stat which a chance to ward off a melee attack, and then give a chance to riposte for some damage.

[Still a work in progress. Just thought I'll show a bit of it while I finish researching/getting the exact numbers on some stuff]

Block is also an avoidance skill of sorts, but it falls under the catagory of blue stats.
Great guide! Thanks desertpunk, much appreciated.
