Who gets ancestry?

Concensus seems to be dirge or templar in MT group.
In a dps group it goes on person with most proc items.

So in my particular situation in Offtank group/ST group constisting of

Dirge
Mystic
SK
Inquisitor
Coercer
Assassin/Brigand/Swashy

Who would you give ancestry to?

In offtanking situation?
In dps maximizing situation?


Guild is bout full EoF out minus Contested gear, if you needed that info to help decide.

Personally I would give it to the scouts espicaly an agi spec rogue as pirate stab benifits greatly from that bonus.(( that 3% does wonders for my agi/wis swash when i get it)) Also the Coercer would benifit alot form it if in alot of proc gear. If your Ot is gonna tank some adds ect and you know it pre pull it only takes 10 seconds to change from a dpser to Dirge for enhancing percussions of stone.

I would thank the developer that makes this a group buff . since its single target only it should be either on the Dirge or myself but in this case i would cast ancestry on myself. OT is better of with a bigger ward (due to claymore reward) then an increased chance of Stoneskin as the bigger ward is almost guaranteed and stoneskin has just a slightly higher chance to proc.

Scouts and chanters love ancestry. My husband plays a ranger and his dps is noticably higher when we are in same raid group, procs his poisons like crazy.
Chanters love ancestry as well.
If I'm in an odd group where its not a huge benefit for anyone, the buff goes on my dog to proc ward.

I apologize if I wasn't clear, every wants ancestry who is it best served on?

Sure a warlock and brigand want it. But is it more beneficial for the raid as a whole that it goes on them or a dirge or tank?

Mine is usually on our Zerker OT, reason is to up his agro by increasing gear and spell procs. Extra agro to tank = more nukes from dps >> little more procs from any dps class. Dirge? meh, perhaps in an ultra defensive fight but seldom needed I think.

It always depends for me. I run in MT group a lot because I'm completely mastered and I can give the tank more mit and avoid and health than a defiler who doesn't have a lot of masters. If I run MG, I always give my ancestry to the MT for his procs. He has a lot of things that have heal procs and defense procs, so it makes those trigger more. Sometimes if we are on an encounter where the MT will need extra stoneskin from a dirge, I will cast it on them for more procs.

If I'm in a non-MT group with a scout, a lot of times I will give it to one of them to make their poisons proc more. It also increases the percentage that a swashy's hurricane will proc, and then sometimes, I will cast it on myself before casting my spirit companion so the group ward, group attack speed and group aoe immunity will proc more. Basically, it all just depends on who you have in the group (that you can cast it on) and what encounter you are about to fight.

I heard from a very reliable source that ancestry on a dirge does not effect his procs on other people (tombs, PoS)

Don't you hate it when people try to lay weight in their words when they say I heard from a very reliable source..... blah blah. Well last time i checked the POS and TOMBS effect on myself it had a higher chance to proc when i had ancestry on the dirge.

Theres a constant debate about Ancestry.

The only fact is no matter on who you cast it, it wont make or break the raid.

I have the debate with our Berserker lately, weither he should have it or me. Well this is how i feel about it.

I am a Mystic, I don't have to heal as much as a Templar or Defiler so 90% of the time i am extra DPS, when i buffed myself with ancestry and wearing my dps items i can hit between 1200 up to 2600 ext dps on encounters (depending on zone)

Now here is the tricky part, when i cast Ancestry on the OT he will generate more dps and hate and peel of mobs from the MT (don't tell my guildies, as people that know me think i ain't healing) I do immediately stop dps-ing and heal him and loose 1000-1500 ext dps.

I think its unwanted that an OT peels of adds from the MT and it feels wasted as i am doing something which without the ancestry buff on the OT wouldn't happen.

yeah sure the zerker gains some dps but the raid overall dps still the same as it looses my 1k-2k dps. (next debate should be why shouldn't i put it on the swash/brigand in the group then?)

Anyways no matter what you put it on the only person really benefiting from it is the one you cast it on.

To discuss the part why we should put it on the dirge :
heres the differences:
Ancestry on Mystic:
- More claymore reward proc thus bigger wards/heals
- More Soulfire hammer procs , more heals
- More healer cloak procs, more heals
- More TTR jewelry set proc rate = more heals, dehate/hate and more power return

Ancestry on Dirge:
- More chance to proc Percussion of Stone.......................
- Increase his dps and slightly improve group dps
