Default Epic.... the day after

So here it is, the mystic group reward epic \aITEM 864736810 -1749295877:Cudgel of Obviation\/a

How do you feel about it?

I'll start.

I like the Double attack effect. Although its a bit odd it procs from healing spells. That bit will hurt our dps for sure.

I frown at the +spelldamage

The +heal seems a bit low but might be higher on our mythical

So far the damage rating seems way to low and no way I would equip it over Soulfire Hammer / Claw of the Silverguardian. I will have to equip it though since I am mostly in melee groups and they finally found some use for me ;p

Hope for he mythical it will be exactly... mythical and not just another stick in my bag.

PS: The looks pretty good. lets hope for some nice particle effects around it like those ghost the named spawned in the vale.

Really though what did you expect to get for a weapon from the herioc quest? Yes I do agree that the dr and + spell shit is crap. But every single mythical version I have seen is 10 times better then the herioc version. What I do see our mythical having on it though is premotion will become a group buff that will have haste/dps etc on it like the templar mythical. The other da buff we got now will become raid wide, yes I still think it will have +spell on it along with the int being that is the way soe wants us to head. And I see us having the 118.8dr the same the temp and fury got.

Fabled one is what it is, considered other class one its not worse or better.

What really sucks is the quest itself. Took 5 days to find every infos, and if mythical one is only to kill those 3 raid mobs... its disapointing. Why are they calling this epic?

I'm sad for the so called "sony devellopers". Honestly how long they worked on mystic epic? 10hours?...

This isn't the case at all. The guy who developed the quests for Shaman did a great job. The quest for mystics was pretty damn hard compared to the others, same for defilers.

Think about it, we would all still be looking for these items without a few things we didn't have in EQ1 to help us.
1. World Wide chat channels, giving real time updates and help
2. NPCs with feathers/books over their heads
3. UIs with dots on maps that flash letting you know u need to go there
4. A super forum like EQ2 flames that everyone had free access to.
5. Ample Lore and history databases with information on mobs, languages, etc.

Those things are what made the quest seem more trivial, other than that very few people would have this quest done by now.

The group epic isn't bad either. It leaves a bad taste in our mouth since it isn't what we expect to aid our class in what we feel are our primary roles/means.

The graphic is a love hate thing. It is very barbaric and shamanistic IMO, but not as flashy as the others.

Blame some of the other devs for making their epic quests too easy.

I'm curious why it wasn't a spear.

epic 1.5 / 2.0 in EQ1 was actually a Cudgel, so its not that far fetched. pretty much one of us (defiler, mystic) had to get a cudgel and other a spear so meh, w/e. hopefully the particle efffect will look good

Don't like the look of it...personal preference...stopped using hitting sticks around the time of the prismatic....pointy sticks have been my weapon of choice for some time now, and to be honest will probably continue to be so except in raid zones.

The nature of the proc makes it a very situational weapon as there are an awful lot of other items out there that would enable you to operate more effectively out of raid.

No problems with the heroic quest line although I am unlikely to upgrade to the mythical version anytime soon as I am no longer in a raiding guild.

What I DO like about the epics is that they seem to have rejuvenated the game after it seemed to be grinding to a halt following the release of RoK. Now people are grouping again and talking to each other. Co-operation is the name of the game in a MMORPG and that was something that had been dispensed with in the grind from 70 to 80.

So in summary.....enjoyed the journey but not to keen about the lunch stop, hoping the ulitimate destination is worth the hype.

Thanks for all the hard work guys. It seems there's no reason for me to hurry with the quest though, since I won't be using the group version. The raid version should be interesting though, as long as we don't get spelldmg and some silly Sta/str debuff or whatnot on it.

I'd love to see some spellhaste, quicker casttime or something similar, along the lines of Templar EoF gear. And some serious + to healing.

But yea, thats just a dream =)

I presume that it's SOE trying to inject some balance into the class so that those that don't want to spec melee can compete. But I agree.....it is fairly gay. Compare what the epic does for us compared with what the guardians' does for them.
